Hey Everyone!

I've noticed a lot of people wondering about Femto unlocks and how the whole process works so I figured I'd shed some light on my experience.

To start out, I just DM'd them on instagram, they sent me all the instructions and I asked my tuner which options I needed. In my case I'll be doing a custom tune on BM3, so I chose Custom Unlock with BM3 torque limiter removal patch and remote engine start fix.

Pricing is included in the 1st set of email instructions.

After this, you provide them with your shipping address and all the other info they ask for.

Once you've emailed them all of this info they'll email you back with shipping instructions.

I put blue tape on my ECU and wrote all of the requested info on it such as vin, unlock options, and shipping address. I also put a piece of paper with all the info on it in the box.

**YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THERE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T**

As stated you don't want to mess up on any of the info they send you regarding shipping to avoid getting stuck in customs etc.

Typically, you'll use DHL Express as the shipping courier, when you go there you'll have to write the address etc in, make sure you confirm with the DHL employee that it is a TEMPORARY export more than a few times lol.

Once you've done all this your work is pretty much done. Its in the hands of DHL and the ECU gods to protect it. It took around 5 days for my ECU to get to femto, they invoiced me the day after it was received, I paid and they shipped it back. The whole process only took around 2 weeks.

Hope this sheds some light and feel free to ask any questions! Overall really happy with the outcome and glad I sent it out myself. [IMG][/IMG]

Wow perfect timing, this is exactly what I’m expecting when I ship mine. I’m at the part where they DM me all the instructions on IG. The price isn’t bad, thanks for sharing your experience and notes.

Now what we all want to know. How does that power difference feel? I bet it completely transforms this already incredible car into a complete monster

Haha, the power difference is incredible. It definitely pulls a lot harder, but the power delivery is so smooth.
I'm currently dialing in my full E85 map. It's pretty conservative since you can only run so much boost on full E85 before crashing the fuel system. I'm currently pushing 26 PSI and running a 6.6 60-130mph. I'll be taking it to the drags once it's fully dialed to see how it performs.

After that, I'll do an E60 map which will allow me to run a lot more boost. I'd expect to run a 5.8-5.9 60-130 on that map. The end goal is to run a 9.9x on-stock hardware other than the flash.

Very nice! Thank you for the information. I will go this way this week
However I am in Europe and as part of the EU (at least some of the benefits) I don't need to worry about customs.
I will use your thread to post my experience too.

Do you have any exhaust mods? Downpipe upgrade?
6.6 is real good for just a tune.

Interesting. I was under the impression the primary cats are the restriction, not the secondaries. Any gas smell?

Yes, the primary cats are a slight restriction. I just removed my secondaries for sound. I want to avoid the gas smell whilst running 91oct, so I haven't done downpipes yet.

I found a decent sound pickup with no rasp from removing them and one of the silencer/mufflers.

Ok thanks. Which silencer/muffler did you remove?

So far everything is great with femto, fast response, everything is well organized.
Tomorrow my DME is flying to Finland.

I was hoping so, but BM3 doesn't have an option for this. Hopefully in the future they'll add it.

Wait what .... protuningfreaks state on their website (licence description) that you can remove the top speed limiter.

Okay, this is insane!!!

I've contacted femto, got the information, 5 Minutes DME was out and I've sent it yesterday around 1600 o'clock. Today I got information from femto about the payment (they've recieved the DME) and I transfered the money for the unlock. Few hours later I got the information from femto, that the DME is on the way with tracking number!!!

Guys this is insane! Under 48 hours from Bulgaria to Finland, unlock, Finland to Bulgaria ...
the only thing I regret is, that I didn't do it before the whole piggy thing.

About femtoevo ... fast reponse, top customer service, process is well organized ... huge thumbs up!!!

Next week will dyno the car and will make a real customer (enduser) comparisson between Manhart MHTronik, JB4 and Unlock + Flash (bm3) with custom tune by utkonoaperformance.
