Valvetronic exhaust with different tips

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Has anyone with the valvetronic exhaust installed different tips? I have the standard 3.5" chrome tips that came with the system - and they're pretty sad - single walled and narrower than OEM. I'm hoping to install some thicker tips with a bezel similar to the OEM ones, but unsure of fitment and if I'm stuck with proprietary Valvetronic tips.

Any tips with a 2.5” inlet diameter can work, there’s nothing proprietary it’s just clamps on a pipe. If you’re interested in carbon tips I have a set that I bought but ended up not using that i can sell you.

Thanks for the info. I'm actually looking for something chrome/brushed aluminum. I really wanted the arm motorsports tips since they're a beefy 112mm, but the inlet is also quite large at 82mm (3.2") so didn't think it would work.

Ended up ordering Active autowerks tips. 100mm outer diameter (close to stock 4") with 70mm inlet, so they SHOULD just be able to clamp onto the Valvetronic axleback pipes. I'll report back when I receive them and try to install them.

So things did not go very smoothly. The Valvetronic exhaust pipe is 63.5mm in diameter. The inlet diameter for these tips ranges from 68-73mm. So there was a good 4.5mm+ gap.

I've done a very temporary fix - I wedged some screws between the exhaust pipe and the tip inlet and then clamped down on that hard. They're on there sturdy, but eventually I'll need to do something more permanent like weld some metal to the exhaust pipes to increase the diameter a bit.

BEFORE: these are the 3.5" chrome tips that come with the Valvetronic exhaust:

AFTER: The AA 4" tips. Still need to align them better but will do so when I get the permanent fix in place.

I would try a metal sleeve of some kind. Careful you don't lose them with all the vibrations back there.

yeah while they're on there pretty tight and secure, it's a very temporary solution. Going to get some sort of metal piece welded to the exhaust pipe to increase the diameter to clamp the tips on to.
