Spoke to my BMW rep today who is M certified and he said the touch screen won't be going away on the M models. It only impacted a small batch of M cars due to the chip shortage but that is no longer the case. Hopefully those who are ordering now can rest easy.

Scrolling around on the GPS map? Idk, I never use it.

But it'd matter to me if it looks nicer. At least that was the case with what I know the previous non-touch controller was. No idea if the non-touch now looks visually identical to the touch one.
