Vorsteiner Front grille - Mesh or not

Was thinking of picking up the Vorsteiner front grille and was wondering about the black mesh option, worth it? I would prefer to not see the heat exchangers as much and think the grille would stop large debris from sticking in the fins of the heat exchangers.

Anyone with an outdoor picture of the grille with the mesh?

Thank you

I'm glad I did the mesh. It's not a super noticeable difference but it completes the look to my eye

I went with Stradale Design, I installed it with zip ties as it would have been a pain, to install with the supplies hardware, not a fan of the install design,(expensive shipping cost) I would have went with the mesh option. Also mine are not vorsteiner (Amazon)

Both look great, thanks for sharing. I’m leaning toward the mesh.

I had the mesh and hated the look, too up front for me and it clashed with the lower oem carbon ducts. I did put mesh in front of the lower cooler, to protect it a bit and also break up the clashing silver through the hole look. Is a personal preference in the end.

Thanks for the feedback. Was it easy to remove the mesh from the grille? Thinking I’d order it with mesh and worst case remove it if I don’t like the look.

+1 for the mesh

I went with the ABS version and think the mesh complements it well. Pics don't do it justice IMO.

If I'm not mistaken, the ABS version sits a little further back in the bumper versus the carbon fiber being more flush. Having the mesh makes its appear like there's not as much of a gaping hold in the front of the car (if that makes sense).

I'm on the no-mesh side. None of the mesh I've seen looks like it would be there from the factory and cheapens the look. That being said, I have a 6 speed with the black plastic over the upper and lower coolers so that helps a bit w/ the protection and looks.

I had ordered the mesh separately, after initial purchase. I hot glued them in place, so not too much effort to remove. Just had to carefully pry the glue up gradually around the edges to get it loose.

+2 for mesh. Nearly every order opts for mesh when shipping out grilles, we keep it in stock.

Has anyone got the matching mesh from eBay and done the side ducts too?
I need symmetry.

I am back and forth but I think I am on the no mesh team finally as I like the depth look without it.

On another note, does the M3 badge come with the grill or does the old one from the OEM grill transfer over and fit in the space?

Nope, you need to order it or take off the old grille. Or, just order a side vent for like $30 and use the logo that comes on that instead of messing with the original one.

Or, like I did, ordered the logo from IND pre-taped and ready to install. Chrome or Comp.

Good tip, is the grille emblem the same (size) as the truck emblem?

It's the same size as the side vents. Trunk is larger I believe.

Has anyone had problems with debris getting in with grills like this without the mesh? I daily my cars and think this would be fine for a fair weather vehicle but mine sees all sorts of crappy weather so I’d be worried about junk getting in and damaging the coolers.

+1 one for mesh. I had Vorsteiner install the grille and mesh in LA.

Had a close call with a bird the other day. It dove right in front of my car as I was going maybe ~50 mph, I saw a little puff of feathers at impact. I was certain I was going to find my new little friend somewhere in my front bumper but I got lucky I guess. Not in any of the ducts. Didn’t see him on the road surface either, no idea where the heck he ended up.

I saw a bunch down at Bimmer Invasion…. Wanted to before I bought. I 100% want the mesh. Did not like the look without. Also the safety aspect. I also ordered a CSF trans cooler in black to help mask the bottom area better.

Good luck.
