Chicago Burbs PPF?
Has anyone had PPF applied in the Chicago suburbs and have a place they would recommend? I'm looking to get the front bumper done. I am west of city.
Thanks.

I live in the city and had Luminescent Detailing in Lake Zurich do the front half of my M3 and also do ceramic coating on my X3 M. It's a journey to get there but I couldn't find any other places around where people repped prior work.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm getting close to getting my M4 and I'm trying to figure this out right now. The dealer says they have a separate detailer come in to do this but I wanted to get some other quotes. I'm in St Charles but don't mind driving further for quality work.

I've also heard good things about Chicago Auto Pros in Lombard, but don't have any first hand knowledge. By the way, I have a G83 on order with an estimated November delivery. |

Chicago Auto Pros has locations in Lombard and Glenview, and the seem super detail oriented (removing emblems, wrapping film over edges as much as possible, etc.) at least from their YouTube videos and the SavageGeese videos. They quoted me about $8k to do full-car Xpel on my G80. LUSTR is another name with a good reputation, I believe. They quoted me about $7,500. Umbra Window Tinting in Schaumburg quoted about the same amount. I believe these all include full paint correction before they install the film.
I ended up going with Midwest Autobahnd in the city, which is much closer to where I live and was around $5,500 (full disclosure, the price was supposed to be $6,000 but they misquoted me because the salesperson didn't realize it was a sedan, and honored the initial quote). I'm happy with the job they did, and they work on high end cars in a nice facility. They did edge wrapping, etc., though there are some places where you can see the edges of the film if you're really looking (around the emblem on the hood and trunk spoiler, for example). Prep also might not be as intensive as the others (though they do clay bar, decontamination, etc.). That all was perfectly fine with me; it's really impossible to see edges and stuff on Brooklyn Grey, and the money I saved more than makes up for it. Regular Xpel. I didn't ask about stealth, but from what I hear, pricing isn't all that different for stealth since the install process is the same. Perhaps with stealth you could get away with skipping paint correction since I imagine the matte finish would do a better job of hiding minor imperfections underneath, if any.

Yeah, dumping that much money right after buying the car was a bit tough to swallow for sure. In my case, I'm planning to keep it for a while (not a lease), and the fact that I never have to worry about swirl marks is really great. Hate those damn swirl marks since they happen so easily.

Are you doing the full front Xpel or partial? I'm planning on getting the Gtechniq ceramic but was mixed on doing the PPF at all. Partial front Xpel seemed easier to swallow and wasn't sure if a full frontal was going to be overkill.

I had Midwest Autobanhd do my PPF and ceramic coating. Very good job and easy location to get to if you are coming from Elmhurst. I’m just south of you and made it there on a weekday morning in 35 minutes. Pricing is very competitive and Ross has been doing this work for a long time and has an excellent rep.

Are you happy with the work they did? I'm considering these guys or Chicago Auto Pros.

I can't pretend to know the differences between the various ceramic options, but for paint correction, full ceramic and "full front PPF" (meaning entire panels, not partials with visible lines where film ends) was $4300 at Luminescent, vs about $6000 (with estimated correction fees) at Chicago Auto Pros. Both seem to come pretty well recommended in the various places I've checked around...so I'm inclined to go Luminescent. But that is a significant difference, wonder if I'm leaving something on the table.

I booked with Chicago Auto Pros. I called Luminescent multiple times and was originally quoted $4700 for full front PPF, full ceramic, and tint on all windows. The same from Chicago Auto Pros for roughly the same options is $6500. From what I understand Modesto is better than Ceramic Pro but still quite a bit more for that and the PPF. They said it was a more complicated vehicle to wrap.
I couldn't get in touch with Luminescent to ask some follow up questions and book. I left a message and emailed but didn't hear back. I'm booked for next week provided the car arrives in time. |

I used to live in South Barrington (Texas Now) and had two cars done (Ceramic) with Auto Image. They did a great job. 2020 GLS 580 and 2020 E63AMG S. Took a few days, but did a great job!
