I knew it! There was also a G81 test mule running on those center locks.

This a prime example from BMW how to capitalize and make money on stuff ppl don't need. Just cause it looks cool doesn't mean it's a good idea on a regular basis.

I'm not even trying to shit on BMW's endeavors and I get that this is optional but as @Tag mentioned, they could of used the R&D invested in this to maybe replace those baby dick rear calipers over something a little more brawny, since the one of actual reasons center locking wheels are used is to accommodate larger calipers. |

I'm really having a hard time seeing the advantage to this intricate change, other than maybe regaining some bragging rights at Cars & Coffee, towards all the Porsche 911 dudes that made you feel insecure. 🙄 |

Nothing new here. People fitted DTM center lock hubs to their E30 M3, many decades ago.
Cool nontheless. I did the next best thing, or better yet, best of both worlds. BBS RS. All the looks of center lock wheels, without any of the hassles of center lock wheels. Win-win.

I used to have a set of TSW “pin drive” wheels that came with a centre lock conversion and a huuuuge wrench. It was cool back then and relatively little work to remove wheels.
