Following up on this, my dealer denied doing the break in service as early as I wanted (~1500km) and said they'd only do it around 2,000km.

So what is it? Where is the truth and if no one knows for a fact where can I find that? I want to know: 1. What kind of fluid is used in the break in for the engine and for the diff and what is the viscosity. 2. What is the ECU "re-program"? after run in? 3. What is PDI mode and what does it do for Transport - pre and post run in. If you don't know for a fact, don't speculate. I have watched many many videos and read many many documents all about this car. I have read on here 8 different things about break in. Can we get a sticky with the actual damn truth in it.?

Not to hijack the thread here but being in Italy, I'm just insanely skeptical of any work BMW has done to my car. When scheduling the break in service it was like 30 min conversation explaining to them what a break in service is. I think it was simply language barrier and my paranoia. To this day I'm still wondering if I'm still in transport mode engine wise etc lol. Just paranoid

I took mine in 600 miles late because they didn't have appointments for a month. It's fine. They change oil and differential fluid. No biggie but I'd take in late versus early

My dumb ass advisor said I was too early and that they can't do the break in service until 1200 miles.
I had 1188 miles. I almost punched the witch. I went full Karen on her and asked to speak to her manager, who promptly said "Of course!" |

Go drive another 12 miles- but that's silly. I wonder how well the new advisors are trained in these things.
