Long haulers: Any brake jobs yet? (Maintenance plan)

I've read a couple of anecdotes about the rear brakes going early on G8x cars when tracking, but I'm curious if for more mundane DD use, people are seeing brakes needing work earlier than expected?

I'm trying to make a decision about a maintenance plan (which covers brakes), that I was quoted by Christine @ Steve Thomas BMW:

Maintenance includes the brakes:
48 months/50k miles $1849
60 months/75k miles $3149
72 months/100k miles $4699
84 months/125k miles $5999

I doubt any G8x owners are anywhere near 75k miles, but I'm pretty sure that a single brake job (front + rear) would cost more than that $3149, so I'm a little tempted to take advantage of this.

Make sure you don't have spacers installed if you want them to cover brakes under that plan

I don't think I've EVER put 75k miles on a car I've owned....I just don't keep them that long.

How much does a rear brake job even cost on a G8x?

I've heard just the rears can be a $2k job (if both pads and rotors are needed). Even if I don't go 75k miles, if that's something that's likely to happen after 20-30k miles, then at least the 48/50 plan might be worthwhile.

Front rotors are around 400(aftermarket fronts can be found for $300), rear are 300.
Front ebc red pads are 300, rear are 100.
$1800 if you do the work yourself.

But there's no way the rotors need replacing when the pads go out, they might need machining but should still be usable.

The pads hold up very well. I have almost 18k miles and brought my car in for service yesterday. Measured 10mm all around or maybe it was different front and back but they said they had plenty of life and I drive the car pretty hard

It's definitely over $3,500 for brakes all around the car with non carbon ceramics

Which plan is this? Ultimate Care Plus? I paid $700 for 36 months.

I believe so, but I'll need to verify. I think the only difference between UC (standard for 3/36) and UC+ is that the latter covers wear-and-tear items (wipers, brakes, and MT clutch), right?

I believe so but they change their plans so much I've lost track. Mine technically covers pads, rotors, drive belts etc. $3149 seems high. They have a lot of margin on these plans. Negotiate more.

That's correct and can be purchased up until the second before the factory maintenance period ends. So, if you need brakes before 3/36k just buy iUC+ then

It is worth it just for the brakes alone. I got the 60 / 75k, I plan on keeping this car for a while. So not the worry about Maintenance for 5 year / 75k miles is a good thing.
Only you can answer this question really, depends how you drive the car and how long you plan on keeping it.

UC+ is well worth it IMO. I have about 10k miles on mine, and I'm on my third set of pads and second set of rotors. I estimate the current set is at about 50% wear. All replaced under warranty/UC+.

You would think. =/

I've done 4 total days at the track; spirited daily driving. (3 days at BMW HPDEs. 1 open lapping day.)

Really rough estimate here, but I would say each day at the track uses about 30% of the life of the pads and rotors.

NO way. I will go to my local race track bred mechanics. Remember you are supposed to put it in Service Mode before removal. That is what they said.

BMW a$$ raping the consumer on repair costs. NO wonder people dump the Germans after warranty end.

Those UC+ prices look like a bargain considering the frequency of rear pad changes...

I don't think theirs enough to machine you can pad slap them. My previous M3 and m4 when brakes were needed the rotors were at 1mm or less. Also all bmw before that i never had a performance cars rotors that weren't under spec at brake change.

What I'm trying to say is you might get away with a pad slap but most likely not its brakes and rotors

It should be

Wipers
Air filters
Cabin filters
Spark plugs
Brake fluid
Rear differential service
Brake pads
