Trust me, I'm a doctor

My dealer told me it unlocks the right rear tire. It doesn’t spin until this service.

Technically, the break-in does NOT yield more Torque.
The powertrain basics remains the same (turbos PSI, fuel injection, etc...) ...
but you do unlock some extra RPM, and technically that brings more maximum HP (re- your equation).
Where are you getting this?? Your engine hit a lower rpm rev limiter before service than after??

What he said is NOT TRUE. You can hit reline from day one. People need to stop spreading miss information.

There is no increased power. PERIOD!

Sorry, I didnt mean to imply that you didnt. I knew you where on board.

Im willing to bet some service advisor told me that's what they do. BMW service advisors seem to enjoy telling customers all kinds of nonsense.

I was assuming that one did not rev to redline until after break in , sorry. I do know there is no unlocked power after break in service

That was based on what I read earlier.
Thanks for clarifying.

No RPM gain, no HP gain. Case closed.

I had my break-in service, today. I'm not even kidding... the service guy repeated this lie to me. Said they were going to do something to the CPU to unlock more horsepower. Even worse—it really did seem faster and smoother to redline as I drove it home.

So here is a variable in the whole break in service give performance boost for what ever reason.

There are a number of forum posts since the update to 2022.7 was released where people, including myself, swear about differences in sound and shift behavior in various drive modes. I can see a situation now where someone goes in for break in, gets the update, and equates the break in service with the unlocking of more power from BMW. Just throwing it out there on a 20 month old thread.

Okay, I had my 1200 mile run in service last week for my M4C. I was pissed it took 2 hours (with appointment) so when the car was ready I took the receipt, booked from the dealer and put it in the glove box away. Pulled it this morning to check something and the last sentence caught my attention. I was told by the service technician that there was no "releasing power" etc for my 2021 M2C 17 months ago. I still believe nothing changes. I believe the final line is code for they removed the 1200 mile service warning on the dash. I have noticed no change to the cars behavior before or after the 1200 mile service...

I will ask again when I bring it in for the 10K service.
