Huh. I had momentarily forgotten that we had the DBW brakes on these cars, although I don't think it's as complicated as it was on the servo system on the motorcycles. Those were a pain to bleed, at least on my R1150RT anyway.
I don't use the vacuum method, rather I put positive pressure (about 1 bar) in the reservoir to push the fluid through. I also (as others noted) siphon out most of the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir first, just to shorten the time required. Hopefully doing it this way (like a vacuum bleed but opposite) with no pumping, ignition off, etc., won't cause the computer to freak out.

So…has anyone had the cojones to try a pressure bleed with the battery disconnected and not using ISTA? Had a lot of folks on this thread and others pontificating that they think it would work, but have not seen a single post from anyone that has actually tried it and their result.

Kies recently did a video where they swapped pads and brake lines. They did a pressure bleed with no mention of any triggering any faults. The only thing they showed on the video was using protools to put the rear brakes in service mode so that they could change the pads.
The pressure bleed with the battery disconnected was also the same method that is used on Alfa QV with bbw. |

Keep us posted. I have new brake pads coming in on Tuesday. I may attempt to do a pressure bleed at the same time as pad change. This really shouldn't be that complicated but here we are.

Any brave souls take a plunge in testing the theory of having the car off/battery dc’d and pressure bleed it with a motive bleeder?
Any info/update would be appreciated! I got an upcoming track day in a few weeks and I’m trying to prep my car. Not sure if should just cough up $ and take it to the stealership and have them do it. |
