UPDATE: So I was excited abt my break in service until I saw this…

UPDATE: So my baby has been made whole again. Got a brand new tire and wheel today. I also kept the old ones as a spare. Alignment was checked and it was slightly out of whack so that was fixed. In addition, a software update was performed and now my display shows my car in individual Gray Black. Lastly, SA told me that they reprimanded the kid that did this. All in all, I am happy they took care of me. All water under the bridge. We all make mistakes.

🤕🥵🤬. SA has already spoken to mgr and ordered me a new wheel + tire. So I’ll not disclose the dealer unless things go sideways. Still…super annoyed/sad.

Holy sh*t. Did they confess it or did you have to bring it up? Did they wash your car by chance?

of course I had to bring it up. I was wondering why the kid who brought me the car was kind of rushing me off. Of course they took 10 min to inspect my loaner before letting me go 🙄.

I requested no wash since I just applied ceramic coat over the weekend.

Looks like it has two impact or rub spots at opposite ends of the wheel/tire as well.

Maybe the rear stepped out while under acceleration? Or like above, a car wash rail grabbed it? Maybe something from the shop hit it on accident?

Was there any explanation at all as to how it happened?

I would look for other hidden damage as well after they explain how it went down.

They said there is a tight turn on the way from where it was parked to the pick up area. Said he probably clipped the curb. Gee….ya think? Did he also reverse and get the rest of the wheel just for good measure??!

The only reason I asked is sometimes the porters will take them into the car wash and park them and they're generally lowest skill level/care at a dealership.

If a tech did that, and didn't own it, that's very very bad form. Not saying it isn't with the former, just saying techs should take more pride in their work than that. Especially on a brand new M3.. anyways. Hope they take good care of you.

I don’t think it was a tech. Some kid drove it up front. And like I mentioned, he seemed like he was in a big hurry to get me on my way.

At this point I would have ripped them a new one. The honorable thing of course is to just admit fault, but to hold back hoping you didn't notice before leaving the lot is downright dishonest.

I'd wager if you didn't notice the damage until you got home, then called them, they would have said "How do we know you didn't do it".

I know I'm not saying anything new here, but every time I drop my vehicles off at dealership, I have the CS rep walk around the car with me to prove there is no damage, and then do another walk around when I pick it up.

I trust NO ONE!

yep! I honestly don’t think my SA knew. I could tell by his reaction. 100% it was the kid that drove the car up in that moment. Regardless, I am fortunate I saw it immediately and I will def be doing many walk arounds in the future.

Get your car inspected for any suspension parts damage.

😩
OP,

Do you get to keep the damaged wheel as a spare?

Is your car a manual or automatic?

Not fully comprehend 500+hp and it's a physical big car.

I hate to state the obvious, but it's very important to thoroughly check your car with the SA when you bring it in for service, and, when you pick it up. I also, always, tell them not to wash the car. They typically use brushes on a wooden handle to get the dirt off!! I had a discussion yesterday with my salesperson about when my car is delivered to the dealership. I want the protective shipping film in place and for them not to wash the car. We should expect the dealer to do a great job in prepping the car, but even my salesperson said I didn't want them touching my car since he knew I was particular about how anyone handles my car.
