Anyone with a non-HEA G80 6MT in production?

I am still sitting in the order bank about 6 weeks after I was "supposed" to go into 150 status/production on my base G80. I have my dealer's first allocation.

They have had 3 G80 Comp's going into production, but not a single Base G80. My Client Adviser is theorizing that production of the competition models is being prioritized.

Can anyone comment?

This is what I worry about with ordering a manual now especially if you need it within the next couple months. Seems they are prioritizing the comp. models as I've contacted several dealers and they all have comps coming in and in most cases with them no allocations to order your own yet. It could easily get into late spring early summer for manual allocations.

i don't care if it takes another year...if it's not 6MT I don't want it. I made that mistake once getting a CS (my first ever non-6MT), I won't be making it again.

so you don't have a allocation yet then, gotcha. Well hopefully your dealer gets you a allocation soon and you get your car started hang in there.

all of our customers so far have opted for the comp so I can't say anything about base yet however there would be no reason BMW would turn down order with a allocation if it isn't a comp, allocation is a allocation. So I dont think your order is getting held up bc its not a comp its being held up bc you dont have allocation yet (dealer doesn't have a open one I mean)..ill ask my guys though this morning ok

Just checked with my guys, nothing on BMW prioritizing comps over base models. He looked and there are mixtures of everything coming out randomly. Hope that helps. looks like you are just waiting for your dealer to give you a allocation

Have any of the HEA base model orders even gone into production yet? The answer to that would at least confirm whether they have the means to build them at all right now or not.

Outside of supplier/logistics issues I am skeptical that there would be any reason to hold back on the base model builds. Assuming there is no practical issue, prioritization should be roughly in the order that orders are received (it's slightly more complicated than that due to batching, Priority 1 vs. dealer stock, etc., but you get my point).

Totally agree with you on your thoughts. I want the manual as well. Just hard to be patient but hopefully the reward is worth it.

I have a 6 MT non HEA and I've had the production number since the first week of December. I haven't asked for the build week yet as I'm not in a rush to get the car.

My CA did say they have way more automatic allocations than manual and that if I got an automatic I would get it faster.

The whole reason I'm getting this car is because it's the last sedan with 3 pedals with a decent interior. I can't drive a civic type R and look mature while driving it. Cadillac v8 manual sedan is new and unproven and will be marked up heavily probably.

I just recieved the Info for my G80 6MT which I ordered at the end of december.
I will recieve it at the end of april/begin of May. And i'm in Switzerland (don't know how they prioritize the countries).

Not G80 but my G82 MT ordered in December got an approximate delivery at the end of May. So definitely seems like MT are shoved at the end of the queue.

That's not the first time we've heard that there are separate allocation pools for the base (MT) and Competition (AT) models.

I don't keep tabs on these details very closely, but I don't think that they do this with other current M models, do they? Someone correct me if I am wrong. I found out when they had ordered the automatic for me by accident. He mentioned to me after I'd have to wait longer for the manual allocation because they had received one for the "competition pack". I'm not sure if that is just the case for m3/m4 since it's the only bmw where if you get competition it also changes the transmission. Since m2 can be ordered with auto or manual with comp pack. But what I do know is it's a lot easier to get the automatic. I guess this ties into the other thread that says bmw is trying to kill the manual transmission by making it rare and detuned.

Dealer allocation is a great point. My dealer has "spec'd out" a BLK/BLK/BLK M3 MT. I just asked about it yesterday, and he said they have no additional allocations yet. I got the only M3 Comp they had, and the M4 Comp they had received they traded to some dealer for two Allocations for M5s.

It used to be the case that the allocations were based on the base and competition when they were "separate" models. Now with them being the same, the competition is just a package on the car. So you can change from base to competition as a simple option.

Our HEA M3 6MT is scheduled to arrive at the processing center this week.

That makes sense. Perhaps that is why, for most M models, BMW NA decided to change back to the Competition package after they had moved to the distinct Competition trim for a few years - it allows for more flexibility on how an allocation is converted into an order.

I suppose they decided to keep them separate for the G8x M3/M4 because of the MT vs. AT transmission situation. Now we'll have to see if they are able to stay on top of it and get the right mix of allocations to meet demand for each model.

I think that's the case as you can't simply switch the transmission option for the order. The allocations have been for either Base or Competition so far.

Just got my production slot today 111 status so it has an actual production number...scheduled for week 9
Still can't decide on how to build it

I have one to sell at one of my dealers scheduled for week 7 and 5 comps scheduled for week 9.

non comps are definitely harder to come by for order slots

I called bmw genius today and got an update on my car. I received the production number the first week of December but my build week is 10. Looks like that's the 2nd week of March. Does that mean I get the car April/May?
