I am very tempted to take the short cut and do akrapovic way so I don't have to unplug and worry about fishing them back up. But will obviously change tactics if the wires get twisted too much.
You also need to be extremely careful and not damage the oxygen sensors. They will be dangling around if you don’t detach the plug from the top. I feel better about leaving them screwed in until the downpipes are off the car.

I am in the process of doing this install. Yesterday I dropped the undertray and removed the crossover pipe along with demounting the catback portion of the exhaust.
Today after work I will go ahead and pull them out and swap them over. I have to figure out which O2 sensors I need to install the mini-cats to.
It is best if the car is up on all four or as high as possible up front. There is a youtube of some guys who did it with just the front up.

Nice! The more people we have input from, the more it will help everyone out.
I’ll start Friday night and finish Saturday morning, hopefully. I’ll add pics and comment on my experience as I work through it.

Thank you.
Would really appreciate it, if you could take some pics or insight regarding the O2 sensor connections. And any other insights.

Yeah, I got you. I’ll try to remember to grab multiple pictures throughout the process.

Here are some photos from my install last night.
The short DP O2 sensors are ran to the top side (back of the engine bay)
The long downpipe has one that goes to the top (near the front strut brace and intake) and the other is underneath near the passenger steering rack.

I put the mini cats at the bottom bungs (I think that’s right) as it should be the sensors that reads the air after where the cats would be.
I have not finished because I snapped a bolt on the new downpipes. Going to get a new bolt today after work and button everything back up.

What downpipes are you installing and what midpipe? Just wondering if you snapped a bolt trying to pull the connection closed at the midpipe because the fitment isn't good, or somehow otherwise?

I have MAD catted Downpipes and Fi Exhaust Catback. What I think happened was, I did not loosen the catback exhaust bolts so I essentially pulled an already tighten exhaust back towards the downpipes and it snapped at the last turn of the wrench.

Hey! Thanks for the information. I wanted to start tonight put we just got hit with a ton of snow. I have to wait until tomorrow.

Those O2 plugs were the main portion I was not sure about, so you helped me in a major way.

Yea they are pretty easy to follow from the downpipes. I was surprised by the number of them though.... like pulling a damn octopus from the engine bay

Thanks for the pics. It is an easy install and references like this give the new wrencher confidence to DIY. Your assumption is correct, mini-cats get installed with the second sensor after the turbo. Also, here is a reminder from BDG about the risk of damaging the mini-cat element:

The mini cats require the supplied washer be installed onto the oxygen sensor with the original OEM oxygen sensor washer before screwing it into the mini cat CEL fix, failure to do so will damage the mini cat CEL fix. The oxygen sensor must have two washers, ensure your installer fully understands this must be done.

Great job on the DYI. there isn't much DYI information (peer to peer) out there for these cars, I think it is important for the evolution for the G8X.

i have post for the intake manifold and will be doing one for the LPFP next week.

additionally, I have a shop manual if anyone needs sections let me know.

It is best if the car is up on all four or as high as possible up front. There is a youtube of some guys who did it with just the front up.
They connect to the Lower secondary o2 sensors.

Having issues tightening this nut and bolt at the DP to midpipe connection. Used a crowsfoot wrench to hold the rear nut in place while trying to torque down the bolt. Can't seem to get the right combo of tools to get in there and torque it down properly. Any tips?

I used a deep socket and long extension along with a 13 mm flex wrench. Flex wrenches are a lifesaver
