Ecu unlock

Anyone got an estimate on when ecu might get unlocked..? Debating to just send out my ecu to FEMTO. Or waiting it out n doing jb4 in the meantime.
Those of you that have sent out ecu for unlocking hows the process? N overall cost?

I too questioned the same, but grew impatient and decided to send my ECU out to Femto. I did it with Visconti tuning, very quick, sent it out 23rd of May and got it back on the 31st. Total cost was about $1895, but I chose to pay that rather than dealing with any issues.

I paid $1,295 for BM3 + JordanTuned custom E85 map, then the $1,895 to get my ECU unlocked. Total - $3,190

Ouch. Can't wait until unlock makes its way stateside.

even if it does it probably won't be cheaper. for example, a 2019 ZR1 corvette costs 2k to unlock and at least 1000 for the tune. same for 19+ chevy trucks.

10 years ago I could license and tune any ford or gm product for $100...my how times have changed.

I recommend using the JB4 until you can flash the ECU without having to remove it and send it to Russia.

that's what I did on my G82, and I'm pleased with how the JB4 is performing

Anyone know how i can purchase a jb4 here in cali..? I tryed buying one rn off burger motorsports n they wont ship to cali.

If you know someone in another state, have it shipped there and then have them ship to you in CA. Unless you’re up for a drive…

I know this horse has been beaten beyond a pulp, but remind me...

Will the "unlocked" DME go back to its locked state once it goes to the dealership for service? And if so, will Visconti/Femto unlock it again at no cost?

Yes, this is covered over and over as well. If the dealer updates, it will get locked. Femto charges a discounted rate for 2nd+ unlock. Pricey route to go for sure.

The biggest risk seems to be BMW doing an over the air computer update without even asking you.
