So my car finally made it to the dealership on Tuesday after many months and two stop sales! Then when the dealership was prepping it, they find the passenger blind spot monitoring does not work. They said it just requires a new mirror. They ordered one on Wednesday, for delivery today.
I just got an email that the shipment was lost in transit!! WTF!? Ordering another one will now take 15-days. The sales person is asking the sales manager if I can take delivery of it and just bring it in once the part eventually comes in. BMW is really trying to suck all the joy out of this purchase. Trying to remain positive. Yes, I know, first world problems. But still, how many other things are going to go wrong?

Damn, that sucks! Hopefully the new mirror will magically appear again or they at least let you take it home and just bring back later.

Sounds a little fishy, but I do have a long relationship with this dealership, so I don't think they are playing games. But, it has crossed my mind. Maybe they want me to pull out so they can sell it for $10k over MSRP (I'm paying MSRP). Again, I don't think that's the case. We'll see if the part shipment ends up arriving tomorrow and if not, hopefully I can still take delivery and just bring it back once the part arrives. My 2015 M3 doesn't have blind spot monitoring, so not really concerned about not having this feature a few weeks, at least I can enjoy the car. The scenario of waiting 15-days (or more) for the backup part before I can take delivery doesn't sound very good. Not sure what I'll say. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Yes, I think you're right, but the sales person said he needs to ask the sales manager, and then nobody got back to me. Hopefully I'll know tomorrow.

It’s a liability for the dealership to let you take the car knowing there is a fault in one of the safety features. I’d suggest signing a waiver stating you know of the issue and it will be fixed at a later date. I hope you get your car soon 👍🏽

The part arrived this morning, and my car is in the shop now! Still a chance it's a bigger issue than just needing a new mirror, but at least it came in.
I had to send another (nasty) email to the salesperson because he never told me. He then said it was being repaired now. Really, you didn't think to email me the good news? I guess not all customers are this obsessive! Certainly others on this forum are.
