Oh, and I knew it wasn't going to be a 2 day job but decided to bring it up so they could "educate" the CA on feeding the customer bullshit on something of this nature.

"I understand your concern but let me tell you this.
It'll take like 2 days and this is no big issue. They'll take a look at the part, maybe photo it and then replace as needed. The people in forums are just complaining about a whole lot of nothing. Ya know, mole hill, not mountain so to say..."

What?!

Oh wow! That looks bad, how many miles?

Far as I know mines didn’t have any issues but still got 6 replaced. I had put about 600 miles since, no issues to report.

Well that sucks. Just noticed my "new to me" M3 build date is smack dead in the effected issued bearing problem. Any way to check to see if previous owner competed this or just call bmw? She has 5k miles on her and mods

I looked up on the online bmw vin recall page and its says 0 recalls. Not sure if that means it wasn't effected or it was done already?

You should be able to verify the service history by providing the VIN to your dealership's service team.

yes and it says no recalls found. But how accurate is that really? Would love to know more and if it was done or not needed etc...

Ok just got off the phone with our local BMW dealership, didn't speak to an advisor but the women said according to the vin there is no open recalls nor was that procedure performed. She also said manufacturing date was 09/21 which is a month after what is on the sticker. That still in in the time frame from that listed recall date. So im still confused at this point if there is an issue with my M3. Unless there are cars in that date period that used different bearings?

Only certain vehicles manufactured within this timeframe had this issue. If you don't have a recall against your VIN, you should be good.

Thats crazy, crazy in that they know what bearings were used for what car. To me that is beyond amazing that manufactures must know what parts they put in from what batch etc... Impressive. Hopefully its ok lol.

Hi,
Have you got a video of correct engine working. In my G82 hear some a little bit of knocking. I don't know that is a normal work a chain, injection or something goes wrong. Can you rate this sound? I'm a little bit worried. If you want to hear write me replies.

For those new to the G8X platform these engines aren’t quiet at all. They all have a ticking sound at idle. F8X, F9x etc all have the same sound that doesn’t mean you have bearing issues. These combustion engines are loud as stated above. Now if you think the sound isn’t normal upload a video on here if you must.

Bearing shell affected engines didn’t sound any different than the ones that weren’t affected at least mines didn’t.

Normal these cars have High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) which is driven by the camshaft hence the tick noise. I wouldn’t worry.

Hi All,

I decided to get myself 2023 M4 G82 after talking crap about the G-body at launch LOL. Anyways, it will be ordered soon.

This problem (main bearing shell) doesn't affect me right? For the G82, it was July 16 to Sep 7 of 2021 production dates and that's it? I want to make sure it's not an ongoing issue.
