The G80 is a perfect daily driver. Put on a good set winter tires and it's damn near unstoppable.

The M4 is a luxury car as well as a high performance car. Dr. Jekyll. In efficient, listening to the surround sound, A/C set in all three zones, seat adjusted just right and enjoying the Merino leather, carbon fiber and high quality interior pieces put together to an extremely high standard, it may as well be a 7 series. Then, M2 and it is Mr. Hyde. While I loved my Vettes, they were only Mr. Hydes...

I cannot think of a single reason not to daily this car, even with RWD and in the frozen north.

I make excuses to drive my G82, so it's practically my "hourly driver". I love this machine and hate when I have to drive my wife's car. The other day she had a low tire pressure warning, so I took it to the gas station to properly inflate the tire (and inspected for nails). After that short trip I had to drive my car just to get hers out of my system. 😁
But seriously, others have said it well: you get it all with the G8x platform. Super car performance, delicious luxury if you do the interior right, and amazing tech engineered to keep you alive. My wife finds our G82 to be a more comfortable ride than our past F82, and that's even with the carbon bucket seats, which I thought might make the ride less comfy. And those seats are one of my favorite things I spec'd. There's really no comparison to previous vehicles, and dare I say that practically includes my old F82. The new machine is just so good on all levels. Who doesn't want to sit in this cabin every day? 🤩

For daily driving the only issue is which car to take. M4C is a great car to drive.

I am in a daily M3. I will say it is overkill for a daily, but I do love it. The ride is harsh. That really is the only downside to using it to a daily.

Our M4 is my daily. Three other generations of M3s have been my dailys as well (E36, E46, E90); as vetteflier said, this is a consummate Dr. Jekyll -- on a par with my E39 M5s of yore. I don't consider the ride harsh (even on Michigan roads) -- just more communicative -- and certainly not as busy as my M235i was.

I daily drive my 2022 M3 competition. It's my only car. I got the car wrapped in PPF and ceramic and I have zero worries while driving other than the boy racers and attention.

I previously bought an Acura RDX for DD duties, and an M240i convertible 6-sp for weekends/fun. This arrangement made me appreciate the time in the latter, but eventually I found myself wondering why I should "settle" on my DD rather than enjoy it as much as possible? (The RDX is a comfortable cruiser, no doubt, but it's relatively boring.)
So I'll be ordering the M3 for a DD, although we'll hold onto the RDX for snow, HD runs, teenage driver, etc. We're not talking about a Ferrari here, it's still a 3-series. Life's too short to drive boring cars.

I purchased my M4Cx after talking to a friend who used the same words you did: "Why are you compromising on your DD, buy what you want, life's too short." My reply was "because no one makes a 2 door AWD great handling unique looking daily that is a rocketship." That night I went back to my old 240i and Audi forums, and eventually saw the xdrive M4. I was a day away from getting an X3M40i after owning an SQ5 for a few years. For my life, both a compromise. |

I had a E92 in the past which was a great daily. The G80 is pushing the bounds of a daily. The suspension is bone jarring. You feel every freeway and highway bump. Bad streets are a nightmare. I am beyond glad I skipped the carbon seats. It is a fun car. It is way more horsepower than you can drive in a city. I think it honestly makes a poor daily driver. In some ways, I regret getting the car. I also think the MMI is garbage.

Although I don't own a G80, I drove and was a passenger in one a few times. I didn't think the ride was "bone jarring" in either case. |
