M3/M4 (Competition) as daily driver?
So, I have an order in for an M3 Competition. It is not only my dream car, but it will also be my ONLY car. I originally had ordered an M440i GC, but once I optioned it exactly the way I want, there's about an $8-10k delta between them, so I went ahead and said "Screw it, I want the M3 Competition." So my question is to everyone that also has an M3/M4 Competition and uses it as their daily driver, what are your thoughts as to livability, comfort, cost of ownership, etc. How does it compare to your previous vehicles?
Video to show that I didn't think of this one on my own. |

This is what it made for
You can do it all with the M3/4 I went from Mercedes A45 AMG daily to 2022 M4 competition. From 4 door to 2 door. The difference in the pricing in your two cars is tollerable that going all the way make sense. If i were debating the two cars, i would do M3/4 competition 100% |

My M3 Comp is my daily and I love it. I came from a 2018 M2 and love my new car. For me, the insurance is only marginally higher and the gas mileage is barely worse and is obviously dependent on how hard I put my foot in it. I have the standard seats and they're very comfortable.
Overall I couldn't be happier.

I've been daily'ing my '21 G80 Comp for 9 months now, 8k miles. It's been an amazing all around car. Bonkers when I want it to be, and quietly comfy after a long day.

It is the ultimate daily driver… my wife has the G80 Competition AWD… it's been thru the snow here in New York already and she said it was as good as her previous X5… I am 6'3 and fit it it excellent… we have driven it to her mothers for the holidays which is an hour and a half each way… And most importantly to me, when I'm driving and anyone wants to make a run with me, I can destroy them… this car does it all… we love it

Compared to your previous choice of M440i, M3 is more daily because of the 4 doors. In terms of comfort, fuel efficiency, maintenance, etc. I don’t see a huge negative. Of course people’s sensitivities and tolerances are different. But in case it is a factor, an M440i just doesn’t deliver the performance experience of a true M car. I daily my M4 Comp.

It's not a Ferrari...of course you can daily it. Hell, if I had a Ferrari I would daily that. Life is too short not to drive fun cars as much as you can

I've had my G80 Base for about a month, and I still can't get over how comfortable and docile this car is when you want it to be. The chassis dynamics are first rate. I think this car has the best road feel since the E46. Daily driver? You bet!

Agree with the others. Sporty daily driving is the entire premise behind modern M3s.
I have the manual with carbon buckets, and even that is totally livable. It’s comfortable enough for LA roads in Comfort mode, although my wife thinks it’s too stiff on poorly maintained freeways (she’s spoiled by air suspension on our X7). Insurance went up negligibly from my last daily driven 10 year old 911. Honestly I find the cabin too insulated for my tastes. |

I daily my G80 comp. It’s my only car (other than my wife’s). It’s been at the dealer almost a month for the main bearing shell recall but other than that, it gets driven every day.
I don’t have the carbon buckets so I can’t speak to them, but comfort and drivability is near perfect. |

I don't daily my M3C now because i don't have a proper winter tire set for it yet (i will for next winter) so i use my SUV.
But i take it out whenever i can so it just doesn't sit. The car is a lease so when the nice weather opens up, the car will be used almost all the time along with my C7Z while the SUV sits. It is a great car. But it can get you in trouble because of how easy it is to go fast. You dig into the throttle a bit and the trans downshifts and off you go. Only thing that sucks (not really but sometimes) is you get a lot of attention. Some good some bad. I already had encounters where some idiots tried to get me to race them. When i smiled and shook my head no i can read their lips saying, "fucking pussy" lol. |

I have a G80 M3 xdrive as my daily driver and it has been spectacular. I went with the M3 so I can have the four doors and fit a car seat comfortably in the back and also went with the standard sport seats instead of the carbon buckets. Carbon buckets look so cool but I'm 6'4'' and 235 pounds and they just didn't fit my body when I test drove a car with them. No complaints with the car! Best car I've ever had

Have an M3C and it is my daily driver for all of the normal tasks of kid drop-off/pick-ups, Costco runs, Home Depot/Lowe's runs, and everything in between. I went from an X3 M40i to the M3 and don't miss the height or cargo space of the X3 at all.
I'd say the M3 is probably one of the best daily driving performance sedans out there for the money right now. Can't go wrong with it. And yes, I even have the carbon buckets, and have zero complaints as it being my daily driver.

Jersey as a whole sucks ass but i do have a buddy a bit down south. Not really south south, by jackson and it is definitely a bit more civilized than the north. I'm way up north, by NYC and it fucking sucks up here. Everyone is a fucking douchebag lol.

Yeah, the M3 is the ultimate daily driver. It can do it all. Super fast and can comfortably transport 4 adults and luggage.
The only downside is that the car's performance potential is unrealized 90% of the time. If your just sitting in stop and go traffic it might be a bit pointless, I guess it depends where you are doing your daily driving. I'm in Brooklyn so don't really get to open the taps too often but have been house hunting in the suburbs and that has given me a nice taste for what the car can do. Amazing performance |
