I'm expecting to get really good fuel mileage when it's parked.

For typical driving (more back roads than highway), so far I’m generally at 17-18-and-change mpg. And that’s respecting the max break-in rpms per the OM. This is during winter weather (car likely running richer accordingly), on snow tires, and manual trans. I think the days of manuals getting better mileage than autos are clearly long gone.

So basically if I drive it the way it's supposed to be driven…it's going to be the same as my X5 which is what I expected it would be! And it wasn't a post to complain about the gas mileage and about the money I was just curious.

Never really paid attention to MPG until I bought my wife a GLA45AMG.
That thing is, for me at least, the perfect all around car. - Besides the fact that it is a compact hatch, 5 door, that seats 5 - It has a pretty good AWD system - Matted with a DCT 7-gear trans - Powered by a 4cyl/turbo delivering 375hp (382 for 2021) - 0-60 in 4.0 & 1/4mi. in 12.2 (Racechip & renntech can improve that) All while getting up to 38mpg on the highway and 22 spirited miles per gallon in the city. If this was a group session I would come clean and tell you that I have more fun driving her car than the M4.

It’s like being behind, or in front of, a new rider on a liter bike they can’t ride or handle. They open it up on every straight, then awkwardly go around corners at 15 mph, then gun it again when the corner’s over. With 3 inch chicken strips on a 195 width race tire

Got similar mileage (maybe slightly higher) on long trip to US (70-75 mph avg) with 6MT. In fact only dropped to 27mpg overall avg when including the city driving in NYC, but I did leave auto-stop/start on when in the city.

Wait so no one is trying to hypermile their car?
Between mine and my wife's X3M we average 11ish MPG and enjoy every minute of it. |

I'm going to drive it like it's supposed to be driven as soon as I get out of my break in! I can't imagine what I'm going to be getting for mpg if I get about 13 miles to the gallon on my X5 in sport mode lol! I've always wanted a sports car that I can drive all year around and when I was looking for fun cars I wasn't thinking about the gas mileage. I was thinking about how many looks I'm going to be getting and how much fun I'm going to have! If I wanted to save money I would've bought a Prius especially for maintenance lol

Why can’t these be like my truck…dismal gas mileage, but a 30-something gallon tank that lets you get a whole week out of it (and then costs $135 to fill…). |

Gas tank size has trade offs, obviously. My gripe isn't the gas mileage per se, it's the range.

Haven't noticed a large difference in range vs the 340 or 335 or 328/323 for that matter. I believe it all depends how you drive and you driving conditions. If you are highway, I find it plenty fine. Only 1 fill up needed between Ottawa and NJ which is ~450 miles (approx around 350 miles).
I am sure if I were in 4th gear most of the time or going over 100mph or WOT all the time it would have worse mileage than all of those, but I do not see a need to drive like a hooligan 24/7, there are times for that and times to just set cruise control.

I've been laughing at myself reading this thread. I've had my car for almost 11 months and I have literally zero idea what gas mileage I've been getting. I used to pay attention to mileage in the past but I just stopped paying attention to it after I got my M2C and didn't restart the habit with this car. The only response that came to mind when I saw the thread was, "Yes, my car uses gasoline..."
I'll probably look at the mileage history in the car when I go out for drive after work, just for fun. |

Honestly compared to the F80 it kinda blows as an everyday driver. But take that with a grain of salt my driving habits have changed a lot since the pandemic, I used to travel 4 days a week to work 80 miles round trip, now I travel 80 miles every two weeks. Not to mention I beat her up when I take her out. But I drove like a normal human earlier this month 120 miles round trip highway and averaged 24 mpg, but city driving in around 13-14

I keep track of it pretty good. (At first just to know)
If you baby it and you are on the highway you get about 25 to 26 mpg. Spirited driving gets you between 17 and 19 mpg |
