"on the Monticello Motor Club's North circuit during our 2022 Performance Car of the Year testing, the M4 posted higher lateral grip numbers than any other car during our testing."

Does anyone know what other cars they were testing?

Thanks. So do we know the results of that track test? The article was from September.

Still impressive that XDrive posted the highest lateral grip out of all those cars.

Can’t find R&T’s results and I love my G82x and would love for this to be true, but I’m having a really hard time buying this.

Why? One of the cars they are comparing to is the 2022 911 GT3. C&D measured it at 1.11g on the skidpad and it comes with Michelin cup 2’s. Not to mention the Huracan STO which C&D tested at 1.14g.

Though on the flip side, what good reason would R&T have to say this if it wasn’t true? Will be interesting to see who comes out on top of their 2022 Perf Car of the Year.

Awd on a performance car like this can add a lot of grip

I'm staying away from driving one so I don't get the urge …

I just picked up another base G82 while I wait for my QC-purgatory xDrive car to appear. It doesn’t matter which variant you buy, this car is f*****g fantastic.

I took delivery in December and haven't got anywhere close to pushing the car. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can get a better feel for the car. I enjoyed the article. Thanks for posting it!

My M4 X-Drive is stuck at port waiting on a part. I was supposed to take delivery last week. This isn't making the wait any easier.

Really doubt this lateral grip test, I like the M3 and every performance machine BMW makes (my track car is my 1 series which I love) but I literally cannot believe it posted higher lateral grip than any other car especially with the competition in that lineup. M3 comes with Pilot Sport 4S tires and weighs 3880lbs You're telling me those grip more than a GT3 with Cup 2s, a car that weighs around 3100 pounds and has has aero? What about the Huracan STO also with aero and weighs 2900 ish pounds? What!?

Out of curiosity, what would be the incentive to lie about the results achieved in that/those car(s) on that day? I see it no differently than the GTR seemingly defying physics in a porker of an AWD monster.

If EVO goes the same way, then BMW will have hour the trifecta

EVO PCOTY

2020 M2 CS
2021 M5 CS
2022 M4 CSL

2.05g? Has any street car ever measured 2.05g? I mean these results are unbelievable. Car & Driver tested the 2021 M3 Competiton at 1.03g. AWD doesn’t double your grip with the same chassis and weight. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/

I smell a correction brewing.

Yes, some of these numbers are nonsense. Look at the golf GTI braking…can't possibly be true considering the numbers for the other cars.

Whatever you do, don't read the comments on that article page... they're toxic af. Literally every comment is about the grill, how BMW betrayed its roots with AWD, the steering is awful, blah, blah, blah...

Note to self: don't follow a Golf GTI. With 2g's of braking my reaction time may not be fast enough! (How on earth can those numbers be correct?!)
