Same. Can anyone confirm this means no touchscreen? This is very upsetting.
No you only lose the touch features on the iDrive controller like swiping n stuff like that

I agree, but if you're losing the touchscreen on the main display, losing this too might be annoying.

This is the one feature that might send me to get a used Shelby GT500 instead. We are in 2022…not having a touch screen is simply not acceptable. Nonetheless a 100k car.

What would one see on their feature list to know that standard feature got deleted?

I don't know if this forum is good for me as everything im reading is just stressing me out till my car is done

I assumed your SA would be able to tell you once the build is completed any relevant codes would be shown on their system.

Eh... Canadians have to wear gloves most of the year, so touchscreens are largely theoretical up there anyway.
Not so, we do have some cold weather but we're not wearing gloves all the time 😀 That said, I prefer using the iDrive wheel as it reduces the amount of finger prints on my touch screen.

+1, I probably used the touch screen less than a handful of times since I got the car for the same reason, I hate smudgy screens. The controller does a very good job. I would not miss the touchscreen at all if it were gone.

P.S. Gloves with capacitive finger tips do exist and work.

Pretty sure, controller classic has no bearing on touch screen.

I'm in SoCal. Mine has been at the port for 10 days. Any clue what ship we might end up on?

No clue. I've even called the hotline and they won't know anything until it actually makes its way onto a ship. Hoping that happens this week.

Agree completely with all of that. The circus around getting one right now is a PITA and has made what is normally a fun process stressful, and I still have at least a month to go before I even get an allocation. As it stands now, I'll likely be picking up my car sometime this summer with the last-gen infotainment that doesn't even have all of the normal features when the LCI with the ID8 is already in production. I'm really tempted to just pick up a Model 3 Performance or F-Pace SVR (one of the last chances ever to get a supercharged V8) now and circle back in a year after the insanity is all sorted out.

Touch function deletion for the main center monitor has code 6UY and affects regular 3-4-5-x5-x6-Z4 series at the moment (Mperformance versions included).
It cannot be retrofittable, once you have this deletion, you must change the infotaiment ECU to get the touch version in the future.

Nowadays, G80/82/83 has the 6UX deletion code, that referrs only for the touch sensivive pad onto the Idrive controller, a minor deletion in my opinion, for a useless feature.

It's important to keep the touch function for the main screen in the other hand, which is important for cars with these prices in 2022. If I were a regular 3 seires customer, I would never accept it for instance.

But the situation is what it is.

To be honest, after ordering a M440i and reading a lot about it, replacing the infotaiment is trivial but a bit costly.
If i'd have to choose, I'd rather lose the touch rathen than the HK system. Of course, the sound system can also be upgraded but it is a bigger pain in the a**.

Since I switched my order to M4 Comp, I just hope there won't be any deletion on mine. But, if it happens, I will take the car and fix it after.

Just so others are clear, since I was really confused by this myself-

This refers to the touch capability on the little iDrive controller by your keyless start button, not the touch capability of your main infotainment screen.

Since it’s just the little knob I could honestly care less.

I tried clarifying it in #38 as people are mixing up both issues.
