Yea, if you want to pay for it. These were not cheap to get painted. Hence the fact that I'm selling them.

Perhaps Porsche had an issue with it? Mexico blue is originally a Porsche color, no? Along with Riviera and Miami as well.

Daytona will be the deeper/darker purple of the 3. Purple Silk is some what similar to Twilight Purple in the shade but not nearly as dynamic. Twilight Purple will be the most dynamic out of the 3 and will change a lot based on the lighting.

Crazy! Must be a very recent change. I guess mine may be the last one. Looking forward to seeing the convertible in "Mexico Blue"!
My Mexico blue G80 xdrive should be here in a few weeks.

Let me get this right, you had these painted yourself?

It's not like BMW is giving out samples like those ?

Correct. After talking to about 8 body shops I found 2 that could do the colors. All the others only seemed to be able to do the stock colors. So I paid a bunch of money to have some painted, mostly because it doesn't seem like something BMW will ever do or offer. I figured it might help the community here.

I did the same through a very popular vendor in this forum. I bought the speed shapes (the ones I got were around 8” long) and had them shipped directly to the vendor. They charged me per color, and the price depended on what the color was, how often they painted it, and how difficult the mix was. Basically, even to paint one of those little sample cars they have to mix a minimum quantity and that takes time, materials, and creates waste.

I would not have felt comfortable ordering an individual color without that process, and to me, it was well worth it to not have any regrets on such an expensive purchase like an m3 (expensive for me anyway.) photos simply cannot capture most of these highly metallic colors accurately. I tried my best to get them in a range of light, and as accurate to what I saw as possible. All pics no adjustments from Pixel 6pro.

If anyone wants to purchase one or more for comparison, I have a speed shape for: San Marino, Enzian, Isle of Man, atlantis blue, portimao, Java green, velvet blue, and twilight purple. PM me for pricing. Not looking to make money here, but they weren’t cheap.

If you went through IND I hope they didn't charge a lot for Twilight Purple…they should have had an extra bucket or two of it lying around from my car.

Can you tell us which are in they photos you just posted? I'm thinking Enzian or San Marino if I were to order.

1st pic San Marino is top left, portimao to the right of it. You can probably find it in other pics based on that.

Enzian only in one pic, on the white countertop furthest away above Java green. That counter is pure white, but the lighting appeared much warmer in the photo so the colors are slightly skewed.

I agree we shouldn't, but BMW doesn't see interested in helping with the matter. I could maybe see a large big market dealer doing it like in LA or something, but no way would my small Ohio dealer do it.

My dealer has the "wall" of samples for paint and leathers. However, they are limited to the ones available in the configurator, nothing "individual."

Based on the cost to have these made, and the relatively low take rate (despite how it seems in these forums), it is just not worth it for bmw to worry about. Plus, imagine the dealers having to deal with clients who are pissed they have to spend money just to see a sample....I can't imagine much benefit from it.

I would also be interested to see the profit margin on individual, as the logistics of arranging a one off paint color must be immense on a highly paced factory. It may be that, while they offer it, bmw prefers to just do the standard palette.

Right. All dealers have the color wall with the standard colors, but none have the individuals. I think it would be much too cost prohibitive to get them all especially for the return on investment, but I also think that BMW should make them available for some cost.

My dealership has the wall referred to above, but I'm pretty sure they have some individual colors too. Certainly not the full offering though.

This is exactly it. When you pay $4k+ for an individual color, you're not paying for the color.... you're paying for the disruption in supply chain to have that color applied.

My CA informed me today that a Dravit Grey order (which is only semi-Individual) would incur a $5k surcharge by the dealer because of the additional production delay. They rationalize it because it slows down the throughput of G80's that they're able to sell, hence defers their revenues/profits.

(Needless to say, I am checking with other dealers in the area...)
