Prior Design G8X front bumper and widebody designs

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Personally, I'm ok with the vertical kidneys and those mockups are not my taste, but many of you are not, so I thought I will be sharing their current design concepts. These are some of the proposals they mocked up in Photoshop. As they are still in the development phase, I think feedback is welcome. They have a really transparent design process, showing many different concepts and iterations and often letting the community vote which one get's made in the end. (As a side note: They are also doing craaazy widebody show cars, e.g. currently a Golf 2 from Khyza). Unlike many of the concepts you see from designers on social media, these pictures come from a company, that has the right tools and knowledge to actually build a bodykit, which is why I chose to post them. Prior Design became well-known by exclusive tuners from their Rolls Royce and Ferrari widebody-kits.

From personal experience with their bodykits, I can say their quality is superb, fit and finish will be excellent unlike many of the chinese kits you can find on ebay. Unfortunately, good quality doesn't come cheap, based on their current offerings you can expect to pay around $2000 for a front bumper (their "entry level" bodykits start at €6000).

These are just some of the design concepts, please watch the video to see all of them.

Prior Design "fixing" the ugly problem lol.

Interesting video from prior. Will be interesting to see if this will actually be offered and sold.

it would be interesting if BMW offered smaller kidney grills/diff bumper design as an option for the LCI

I'd wonder what the take rate would be

I'm sorry, but I'm just not buying a car if I need to buy an aftermarket piece and paint for over 3k to feel happy with it.

Anyone of those is a HUGE improvement over current design. I think it would be great upgrade. Flows much better with rest of the car design.

I compared the design to the M8 and it looks identical. I would rather keep the OEM front bumper just to differentiate from all the other M cars. I don't mind the front too much really.

This is perhaps the most nonsensical "anti grille" post I've seen.

You're saying that this aftermarket product will basically sweep us off our feet and cause us to replace a factory bumper that polls conducted after the reveal indicate the majority of the forum members actually like.

Prior Design looks like they're ahead of the game in getting something worked out for those that aren't big on the look of the G8x front ends.

I think this will be a big seller and it really makes the car more appealing to me

Why is everyone so scared of change? Go buy an M8 if you like that boring front end.

No I haven't. This is my only post/thread about those bodykits. Also, I state in my post I personally don't like them and prefer the stock front. But since a looooot of others do not like the kidneys, I figured I can post those concepts here to let you know there is something in the works. Unlike many photoshop renders from some designers out there, these come from a company that will actually build this bodykit (or at least could build them), which is another reason why I chose to post these pictures.

Is anyone else as curious as I as to how the aftermarket can fix the issues? It seems impossible to do because in order to get the usual grill look we have all grown to love there needs to be some sort of body panel underneath the grills. Which is simply not there to begin with because of how the grills are built into the car. Sorry if the wording is confusing, I'm not sure how to explain it. I'll attach pictures lol

If you remove the bumpers from the G8x, there will be nothing but gaping giant holes. There needs to be some body panel connecting in the bottom half to make that seamless/original look from the F8x series of a normal kidney grill.

Hey this is great! Spend $100k for an ugly new car and another $3-4K to change the front.

Got a link to these polls? I didn't see it in the general G80 discussion subforum...but I did see this one in the G20/G22 subforum :

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1756842

~74% say they don't like it...
