I drove her from Albuquerque back to Phoenix - about 420 miles. I'm right at 1000 miles and scheduled my service this Thursday

My plan is once I picked up the car, oh in Oct? Drive it straight from NJ to Miami (have family there), enjoy some good weather driving for about a week, then come back for the 1st service and mods Meanwhile, I can test out the Driver Assist Pro features!

For some reason I always thought that place was in NorCal. Looked it up and I'm only 150 miles away. GOOD TO KNOW!!

Keep in mind there is nothing magical about 1200 miles. I had 1019 on mine for the break in service. Have never and would never go over 1000 on a performance car before first oil change. Just me, but Service Manager--who drives a Cayman GTS, agreed. I wouldn't go below 1000 either, btw.

So you gotta time the dealership visit just perfect to get there at the exact 1000 mile mark.

Obviously, there is play in that. A hundred over would be fine. But, I did time the dealer visit. When I got to 900 miles, I made the appointment for a week later, knowing I'd put 100 miles on it easily. 1000 mile rule has meant I've had zero engine issues in any of my 30 or so cars--the majority of which were high performance.

I need to come up with a plan. Being that it's about to be hot as balls in AZ, probably take a trip up north a couple times. I'm only ticking a couple miles each day so far. My PPF isn't scheduled for another month, so also paranoid about rock chips. Double edged sword

Why so far out on getting PPF done?

Which shop are you going with btw?

My guy over at detail boss is super booked. He's the only one I trust for my cars. I'm hoping a cancelation comes through to get in early.

What all are you getting PPF'd and how much are they charging?

I was looking at going with AZ Auto Aesthetics and they quotes just under $2k for front bumper, hood, front fenders, and side mirrors.

I'm getting full front. Bumper, headlights, fenders, pillars, mirrors, and decided to do side skirts. I'm also getting ceramic done. Not sure what he would quote you, but if you want to PM me I can shoot you his details and fill you in on some of the local work he has done for others. I wouldn't go to a rando shop unless you absolutely trust them.

Anyone know if dealers are refusing to do this service if the car hasn't hit 1200 miles yet? I know BMW is pretty picky about early maintenance and don't want to make the trip for no reason. I'm about 300 miles short and have an appointment tomorrow

I had mine done this morning and my car was at 1050. BMW on Camelback in Phoenix for reference.

I'm so sad, I've only put 11 miles on my car, I booked a PPF appointment in April and he didn't have room until June 29th.. I have to wait another 3 weeks to drive this car.

Yep, that amount of miles and not doing the 1,200 mile break-in service will cause issues with the warranty. Pretty sure there are threads around Bimmerpost of those that went too far past the 1,200 mile mark and then BMW refused warranty covered because of it.

I think I read you can do it either after 900 or 1000, forget which officially.
