Jump to 1:20 to hear the amazing S58 slow-squeeze in 3rd. The driver was definitely enjoying it.

So it's basically a M3 comp with manual?

Now we know why they tuned it the way they did, so they could release this.

To line up with the regular 3 series LCI, that car is entering its 4th year in production, happened with the f80 as well

F80 CS was released in 2018 right? Last year of F80 production.

This is exactly why I didn't bother trying to get the first year model m3, LCI was around the corner because of the g20 being out a few years. I think a G80 m3 cs is definetely worth getting if they make the hood nicer -- the hood is my biggest beef with the current m3.

Probably a small change to tail lights since the m3 headlights are different anyway - you can just upgrade those yourself I suppose.

Humans are inherently novelty seekers . . . and manufacturers have been preying on this trait forever. They know we like the 'latest and greatest.' BMW will keep pushing out newer and ‘better’ model variations as quickly as they can to draw buyers into a new purchase.

Lots of OG G80/82 owners will ‘have to have’ the LCI or CS or CSL models when they are released. Lots of G80/82 buyers came over from the F87 model, including me . . . and lots of G80/82 owners will jump back to the G87 model when it is released. Then they will ‘have’ to have the G87 Competition or CS or CSL model . . . and so on and so on.

BMW is not trying to disappoint you . . . they are trying to get you to act on your impulse to own their ‘latest and greatest’ models.

G80 LCI is coming next year (7/22) and G82 LCI is coming in 2024 (3/24) as they are tied to their base LCI schedules.

It's been known for some time now:

Yes, but the way that Bahn360Photo wrote his post suggests he was asking why the LCI was so soon rather than why the CS was so soon. So that's the question they were answering. Is that really what he meant to ask? Only Bahn360Photo knows. I'm not even sure why the LCI came up in this thread, but I also didn't watch the video so maybe it was brought up in there.

At any rate, your are correct, the F8x CS models came late in the cycle. It looks like the G8x CS models will come much sooner. It makes sense since these will be hot sellers and carry even more margin than the existing M3/M4 models already do.

Hopefully BMW does not get too wide-eye'd with the MSRP in la-la land this time. That was a bit of an embarrassing situation both for them and for the few who paid MSRP, at least here in the US (in some regions the price was more in keeping with the "Competition+" that this vehicle actually is). The car will no doubt have plenty of value-add upgrades that are worth a reasonable price-hike. But, BMW, you don't get to command 2/3 the premium of a CSL just because it contains 2/3 of the name. Please just give your customers credit for being smarter than that so it doesn't get so awkward.

New tail light graphics plus supposedly that new slick instrument cluster+navi screen combo from the i4. Similar to Benz's current set up.

No splitter, small spoiler, 6 speed, I would say that this is just a LCI model and not the CS or CSL or whatever special edition BMW conjures up for the G8X.
Here's to hoping the LCI fixes the mistake of not having a G8X 6 Speed Comp.

Not sure I like that instrument cluster for the M3...it's too...EV!

It seemed like the previous generation M3 cs was not a strong seller. Maybe priced out of the segment. I wonder if this version will fare better?

Totally hit the nail on the head. I know a lot of us here are secretly peeking over at the G87 spyshots.
