What do you not like or think could be improved about your G8x?

Not a thread to bitch about the grilles, but what small or big things do you think could maybe be improved for future model years or LCI? Maybe BMW will read some from this thread for some ideas? Or perhaps some people might have work around for people's ideas/problems.

One of the things that annoys me is that the AC on off is now buried in the iDrive menu as opposed to being a button. Sometimes I just want 'fresh' air through the vents and sometimes I want cooled air and a simple button was handy for that as was in previous models. Sure, I can "Hey BMW, turn on the air conditioner" but for something like this a button would be much easier. There are also a few iDrive things that I'd like to program to buttons that it won't let me do.

Also, I miss the 12v outlet in the passenger footwell and wish the center console 12v adaptor was in a little better place for plugging something like a radar detector in. As it's right in between and in front of the 2 cup holders a wire would be a bit in the way and unsightly.

The AC on/off being buried, as well as the sync temp between passenger and driver. Everytime a passenger changes the temp I have to go into the menu and check the sync button. edit/ If it's space they're trying to save, get rid of the shortcut buttons which never seem to work for anything anyway. /edit First world problems

For me i have 2 really small complaints. I am coming from a G30 5 Series Diesel, so that is my reference with which i compare my G80.

First complaint :
The volume button has a delay. It does not respond instantly as in the G30. When i push it and turn on the radio there is a slight delay, and also when turning up the volume there is a small delay. This was not the case in my (I-drive 6) G30 5 Series

Second Complaint :
Delayed creep from automatic transmission when driving away : i think this is likely a Diesel vs Petrol thing. My 5 series was a Diesel with ZF 8 speed automatic. When driving away from a parking position all was needed is just releasing the brake pedal and it would instantly roll away. With the M3 competition there is a delay before the car starts rolling away. I think this has something to do with the higher RPM after engine start, which is something the Diesel cars do not have. I think therefore they can not just make it like a Diesel which rolls away instantly when releasing the brake pedal.

But really these are very minor irritations in a otherwise brilliant car : the best car i have ever owned by far. By very far.

Agreed on the temp sync button. I really never have anyone in the car with me so it's not a big deal, but I remember talking to the delivery guy about it and I think he asked if he wanted to set one of the 8 hard buttons for the setting. Have you tried to see if you can make that a button? I know the AC on off doesn't save as a button.

iDrive 7 Voice Control. I realize that you have to "get to know" the weird spirit inhabiting your car, but it and I are not getting along as well the iDrive 6 spirit and I did. I'm working on it.

The A/C being buried infuriates me. It just seems completely bizarre that there's not a button for it. I turn the recirculated air on if I'm by a truck I think will spew smoke, which activates the AC, and then the only way to turn it off again is to go back into the menu, so it's a minimum 3 clicks to turn off

Only one 12V outlet. There should be at least one more either in the rear seating area or inside the armrest compartment. Same for USB-A connection.

Occasionally buggy Apple CarPlay integration. Sometimes, the connection between the car and phone is interrupted.

Gesture control doesn't appear to work while wearing gloves.

Comfort access "kick to open the trunk" feature was deleted.

I'd like to mix M-Mode Sport HUD with Road mode Live Cockpit.

Horn requires a bit too much force to trigger. A quick and friendly beep can be tricky.

I'd like M tri-color stitching on my seatbelts (6MT car).

Speed Limit Info seems less accurate than in previous cars.

Google Maps/Waze directions should propagate to the main BMW navigation system and display directions in the HUD and Live Cockpit.

Analog dials option in Live Cockpit. I'm actually satisfied with what's provided, but the setup is digital, so no reason to not have another gauge cluster skin.

Option to color match gloss black lower body trim pieces. BMW M made a good decision making everything separate parts that are easily taken off, so I'm not as worried about how they'll wear (mine are already showing swirls, though). I think the car will look lower with an even more imposing street presence with all of the pieces painted.

Digital Key for 6MT cars. While I understand that Remote Start doesn't make sense with a 3-pedal car, I should be able to use my iPhone to unlock the car if other models allow this.

I'd like the Competition factory tune on the 6MT base car.

I'd like an illuminated shift knob.

All nitpicks. It's been a while since I've been this satisfied with a purchase.

What? Why? You mean you don't like it when your passenger mutes the radio every time they talk and use their hands? This is a feature!

"Hey BMW" (or whatever your activation word is) "Turn on the AC"

Not the best, but I found this is my most used voice command right now "Hey stupid, turn on the AC"

Carbon Exterior Package should include front lip and side skirts. It's a complete b/s that the current $4k package doesn't include this.

I agree on the first two. Definitely miss the kick to open trunk feature from my F80. Pains me even more since on the F80 I wish I had kick to close and now I have a powered boot lid but no kick!

Did you specifically call out Google Maps/Waze on iOS because native Apple Maps does display in the HUD? Only asking because the one time I used Apple Maps for directions instead of BMW Navigation, to my surprise I saw directions in the HUD. But now I'm wondering if I just imagined it

Ugh, that is annoying that the sync button was removed. I'm always having to hit that button again in my X3 as the kids will usually bump one of the buttons when they are climbing around in the rear so the two zones are then out of sync. Hopefully they won't bump into the buttons as much in the back of the M3…

Right - I loved the springy open with the kick. I'm extremely happy to have a powered lid now, and will love to see kick to open come back in a future iteration.

Yep, others here have reported that Apple Maps directions make it to the HUD.

Funny thing - I just got a call from someone in BMW M product a few moments ago conducting a customer satisfaction and feedback survey. I relayed my list.

It works, but its too delayed gratification for me. And her response is too wordy. It's always a surprise if she understood me correctly. I just want her to say "ok". Similar to Alexa vs Google. Alexa says ok and Google repeats everything I just said.

i had to look up the AC button, pretty strange decision, definitely the one so far that has bothered me the most often. (have not tried the BMW assistant yet)

and audio skipping over Bluetooth.

Isn’t the AC on button in the center with the fan selector? That’s what I use.

I love it for turning the radio up and down. Also it’s very useful for skipping tracks. Lastly, I use the open, close, open hand to get back and forth between the Vehicle Home button and the screen to change between sport modes.

For turning it on I just push the recirculate button, you can push it again to turn the recirculate off, but the AC stays on. Turning AC off is trickier
