Went to see it in person

Got a chance to check out the new G8X in person. They had 2 M3s and 1 M4 (all sold).

The M4 was Dravit/Kyalami. 1 M3 was SPY/black and the other was Frozen Portimao Blue/YMB.

A few thoughts:
1. The M4 in Dravit looked great! What an awesome color. The lighting in the spot of the showroom where it was wasn’t great, but still, the color is awesome.
2. The exterior carbon package is a must. The M4 had it and the Frozen Portimao M3 had it. The SPY did not. It makes a huge difference in my opinion and is worth the added cost.
3. The Portimao is a great color but I am not a fan of it over the YMB interior. The owner obviously gambled and I don’t think it works at all. Sorry if the owner is here or if anyone else went in this direction. Not a good look.
4. This dealer is selling these cars at MSRP (not a markup like another dealer close to me).
5. These cars are so aggressive in person. They look great! Long, low, and wide.
6. Ive actually become a fan of the grille. I, like many, hated it at first. It’s not only grown on me, but I like it. It fits the car and is very nice looking in person.

The CA I spoke to told me it will be impossible to test drive this car for a long time. (Obviously this is dealer/person dependent).

Nothing earth shattering, but just wanted to pass along a few thoughts.

Another forum member had Portimao Blue (not frozen) on Yas Marina Blue interior and it looked good to me. I'd pick Kyalami Orange on a Portimao Blue M3/M4 but others may think I'm crazy

Color combos are about preferences and completely subjective (in most cases). I wouldn't take a black interior even if I got an extra $5k off for example, but someone else only buys cars with black interior.

The grille looks totally different in person, not ugly at all like in the pictures

I went to see the G80 today when I dropped my car in for service and wow! I wasn't a fan when I first saw pics and videos but man when I saw it in person today it was love at first sight! Colour was Brands Hatch Grey with the standard seats which are very comfortable and supportive. The dealer didn't have any with the carbon buckets. As for the front it looks really really good. IMO BMW nailed it with this M3 and it will be on my shortlist when the lease is up on my M340i.

Saw a white 430 coupe yesterday....let's just say the actual M3/4 is much better in real life than that car is.

Nice!! My service appointment is a next week Saturday and I can't wait to take a look lol. Also, the most likely successor to my M340i in Summer 2022.

To be honest I think the exterior design of the G80 is so good that it makes my G20 look pretty ordinary. I'll go as far as to say the front looks much better than the G20 IMO. Even the stance and wheel/arch gaps look perfect. Hard to believe how different it looks in person.

Grey was the only G80 I saw so maybe colour choice is key as I wouldn't think bright colours would do much for this particular chassis but that's just my opinion.

Will be keen to hear your thoughts as a fellow M340i owner when you see it too..

Apologies the colour was actually Brooklyn Grey, unfortunately I didn't get to take any pics. However, looked exactly like this..

BAHAHAHAHAHAH. Settle down champ. Some people drastically overstate the stance of this thing. You’d think it had a lift kit from some of what I’ve read on here.

The one I saw at my dealer looked like I could crawl under it. So I've seen it in person. Just walking up to it from the side, I was blown away with how high it truly is. That's just my opinion.

I hear you. Portimao blue looks nice, but its a basic color shared with the standard 3 series. Imo if i order it would have to be SMB or another individual blue like mexico to stand out. But darker colors work better on thos platform imo

Interesting, the one I saw at the dealer was low for a car straight out the box. Rear wheel arch gap was half an inch if that. I thought the stance was perfect. The black 'skateboard' around the bottom does tend to make it appear to sit higher off the ground than it actually is, however.

Maybe you saw the unicorn. Go to photo, video, build thread and look at the "Went to see in person." Even the green one in that pic is all jacked up!! It's horrendous. That's what the one I saw compared to
