Remote Software Update Patch Notes

My BMW alerted me to a remote software update this morning. I figured I would screenshot the given patch notes to see if BMW addressed any issues you have been having.

I don't have that version, I have .25. I didn't get the notification, so did a search through IDrive. It was taking forever--washed the car and it still didn't show anything. Left the keys in while washing. So, ~ 45 minutes and the line marker that moves towards the vehicle was in the same position it was when I started. Next time I drive it, I'll run it again--if it isn't already running, in the background. I have the same car as you.
How long did it take to download? You got the message, so obviously didn't have to do the BS search.

update: Did a search with my Vin #. Got this:

No update is necessary.
BMW M4 COMPE, 2021, WBSxxxxx
The software of your BMW will be updated automatically.

Wonder why you had to do it manually?

How long did it take to download? You got the message, so obviously didn't have to do the BS search.

Maybe they release it in waves like Apple does to keep servers from being overloaded. I had .25 before this update, so you will receive one as well. I too have automatic downloads enabled but I had them over wifi only. I got the message when I was not on wifi. In any case you still have work to do after the download. You have to have your car running for the phone to upload to the car and then you have to turn the car off for the update to be installed. You can leave and lock your car during this process. About 15 mins later you'll receive a message that the update is done

Edit: try searching for the update in the mybmw app but I bet it comes in waves so stay patient

Mine did it last night in the garage. I wonder if there is a level they will do OTA's with and others will be dealer only.

I did my upgrade about an hour ago. Haven't driven it yet. Did you notice anything new?

Not a thing lol. I think the big fix was for android users and I am not one of those. I did get a headrest malfunction notification until I turned my car off and back on

My notified me just as I was getting out of the car and said it would do it for the next 10 minutes or so, with the car off.

This update removed some settings and available apps from the store, for example M1 and M2 button settings and the weather app.

Are you sure it didn't just put them in a new area? I will look for them later. That would be insane to remove those.

Got the notification when I got home today. Just left the fob in the car, and 10 minutes later was done. Said it could set some settings to factory default, but just started it up to make sure it would. Didn't look at any setting. Download while you drive and quick upload at home. Pretty good. And I'll know next time.

Update to s/w upgrade. Changed a lot of settings in my car--M modes, remote start, Nav settings and a couple of others. Biggest annoyance was the speed limit was no longer showing on the HUD. Changed the other settings back to what I want, but no IDrive capability--in either car or nav, to show the speed limit. Did about 6 "Hey BMWs" and finally got the reply 'showing speed limit,' and it was back. PITA. Instead of the boiler plate update info, it would have been nice to know what settings it was going to change. M2 was completely different than what I had set, and I was surprised I was in manual with DSC off. So, be aware after the upload.

the auto start thing really threw me off and to go find the place where it turns back on was a nightmare again. Might as well just factory reset everything because I had to meticulously check each and every setting to ensure things were the way I had them.

That is unfortunate. None of those things happened to me from the software update. Just curious, can you guys post what model car and phone OS (iOS or Android version)? Now, when I went in for break-in service over the weekend, my M1 and M2 were reset afterward, but nothing else.

It's a little disturbing that they will change settings and delete any saved videos. If I don't use my "My BMW" app (and I don't use Android auto any more because it sucks) how would I know that this is coming, see the release notes, etc.?

Mine is an M4 Comp. Curiously, after the 1200 mile service, nothing was changed on settings. Don't use Android in the car, so that update didn't matter to me. I really have no idea what else was "improved," but it seems like the changed settings basically went back to factory default. I had to change the same ones I changed originally. The loss of the speed limit icon was the biggest pita, as I said. There was no way to get it back through the settings, but finally "hey BMW" worked. I have no idea how.

Ah, a few phones and OS back. This is my first real experience with it with wireless. I've used it limited in my Jeep but have to connect it via cable. On my end it works really well just automatically connecting every time I get in the car. Seems pretty seamless actually. Really no big problems. Occasional disconnecting but works 95% of the time
