Custom Wheel Specs for G80 X-Drive (HELP!)

Hey everyone.

I'm having a set custom forged wheels made and I'm just trying to confirm specs before i pull the trigger.

Front - 20x9.5 et 7mm
Rear - 20x10.5 et 10mm

and for tires planning on running (Keep in mind car is X-drive)

Front: 285/30/20
Rear: 295/30/20

inputs & recommendations would be appreciated !

i am also running KW HAS.

thank you in advance!

You need to keep the height of the tires identical, less than 1% or so for xdrive. You're at 2% now front to back.

The wheel spec can get you close to a flush fitment. The tire spec however would not work if you have a X Drive car. With those tire specs, you have a 1.1% difference in the circumference front and rear and it will cause issues with your X Drive as the tolerance is 1% meaning your traction control is going to think the car is consistently losing traction and potentially damage the drivetrain. We'd recommend 275/30/20 front and 285/30/20 rear to keep the difference under 1%.

Building a custom set of wheels but doing the stock wheel widths.. Why? Go with something like 20x11 ET 12 and 20x10 ET8

He's at 1.1% 26.7" --> 27.0" which should be fine

Yes. The tire size dictates what will work with X drive and not the wheel size. For example you can have a 15 inch wheel and still match the size of a 20 inch wheel by putting a fat tire with a huge sidewall on it lol.

285/30/20
295/30/20

Seems to be commonly run on Xdrive - but there are always comments that pop up suggesting it’s out of spec (1.1% vs 1). Have not seen or heard of anyone actually reporting a problem tho or any increased traction control lights coming on etc.

You're only looking at going 10mm wider. You're almost wasting your time, going to a non BMW Star tire, because you're losing the performance associated with the stock BMW tires. The BMW tires, are not off the shelf PS4S, its actually a 1/2 PS4S and half Sport Cup 2.

Its worth watching this video.

That may be true for a sport tire but some of us went all season on 20s and so BMW spec tires aren’t an option anyhow.

BMW makes a winter set for the G8X but it’s not really worth it, because it comes as a wheel and tire assembly.

I’m running 20x10 ET 12 and 20x11 ET 12 with 285/295 and zero issues on custom E40 tune and XHP stage 3. Working great!

Lots are running this set up.

X-drive comes with 0,4% difference from factory. So that probably calculated into the speed the wheels are running. So that the 0,4% is actually 0%. If you know what I mean.

After having done a few sets for Xdrive cars... You can go an inch wider front and rear and adjust the offsets a little for much better fitment w/ those tire sizes. If you want the tires to look a bit beefy then you can stick with your current widths. No issues with those tire sizes & rolling rate.

I run a -1.9% difference on my x-drive when it has the rear bead locks on. 285/35/19 up front and a 305/35/18 rear.

The real threshold is actually around the 3% mark. It's mainly how far do you want to take it to find out haha.

If you are running those wheels in that width I'd say 275/285 tire sizes instead.
