This question arose on our commercial thread for the G8X fitments, but I thought it was an interesting comparison and definitely has a place on this technical thread. Let us know if you have any questions about our weights or wheel designs!

It really depends on which wheels you're comparing as there are a number of OEM options. Here are the figures on our wheels by fitment based on estimated weights in Brushed Clear:

We haven't independently verified the OE wheel weights, but this is a useful post for comparing the fitments: G8x M3/4 Alloy Wheel Weights List. Image below for convenience.

Regarding these weights and comparing the various fitments, one thing to keep in mind is that our wheels are at least a half-inch wider front and rear. Despite that additional width, I'm quite pleased with our weights as compared to the OE wheel options.

You mentioned you'd like to stay staggered but you can run staggered width 19" wheels or a setup similar to the factory wheels with 19" fronts and 20" rears while still saving weight over the factory wheels. If you're a fan of the latter option, I'd recommend joining our 20" Group Buy that is currently ongoing : APEX 20" Group Buy

Apologies for the delayed response. No 18"s for now, but we may bring them to the market in the future if enough people reach out to request them! Email expert@apexraceparts.com if you'd like to express your interest in that diameter.

Motorsport Gold & Limited production Gloss Gold update

Motorsport Gold Render (standard production, Satin finish):

We also have a few limited production Gloss versions of this color available in select G8X M3/4 fitments. These wheels were produced in our first run and have a clear coat applied that give the surface a more shiny/reflective appearance:

Gloss Gold examples:

These limited production Gloss Wheels are only available in our 19/20 staggered diameter & width or 20” staggered width G8X fitments in limited quantities. If you are interested in ordering a set of these gloss units, you’ll need to email expert@apexraceparts.com as they won’t be listed on our website. Motorsport Gold & Limited Production Gloss Gold Comparison

Our last post showed off some bare wheel photos of our Limited Production Gloss Gold wheels, but we’ve seen a few requests for a comparison between our Standard Motorsport Gold and the Limited Gloss version. The differences are subtle but we hope this post helps to give you a better idea of how these 2 finishes compare.

Motorsport Gold standard production, Satin finish:

BMW photos are coming in the future, but we hope you enjoy a look at this Porsche centerlock fitment in the same Motorsport Gold finish.

Gloss Gold Limited Production:

These wheels were produced in our first run and have a clear coat applied that give the surface a more shiny/reflective appearance:

Gloss Gold examples:

We hope you enjoyed this closer look at both colors! Let us know your thoughts and be sure to email in if you’re interested in our Gloss Gold sets

Hello, I’m planning to order the VS-5RS 19x10 ET12 for my G82. I track the car with stock suspension. I’m debating between a 275 and 285 sized tire but concerned about rubbing. The wheels will mainly be used for tracking and not on the street. I rarely engage full steering lock on the track. Can anyone offer any insight?

Edit: Also which wheel finishes will be available in March - Satin Bronze, brushed clear? I'd like to have them before April track days, thanks.

Anthracite, Brushed Clear and Satin Black are restocking in March, Motorsport Gold and Satin Bronze will be coming back into stock a bit later as their reorder is still pending.

The 285/35-19 on that wheel works well, but it can rub the driver's side cooler vents in the front wheel wells when you have steering lock dialed in, particularly in reverse. It shouldn't be rubbing on track at all.

Love these photos. Sent you a DM on GangUp!

Hey guys,

I'm really behind this week building and posting threads. You'll get your own post and commercial thread that goes in-depth on options here later, but our 19" Group Buy for the VS-5RS and some other options like the new SM-10RS is here:
https://www.gangup.com/apex/19-forge...s-q1-2023.html

For those of you that know exactly what you want and are comfortable ordering the wheels now, have at it! The wheels on this list arent the end of it though as I'm trying to get 18" and 20" added as well all in G8X fitments. For now, you can pledge in this Group Buy for the 19s, or 19" front and 20" rear.

More details and a full thread post to follow. I'm happy to jump into questions about the deal then as well.

-Tom

THE DESIGNS

SM-10RS

Introducing the Forged SM-10RS. An ultralight version of our already popular SM-10 design. We’re a function-over-form brand, so we took our time and engineered this wheel to be our best. The original SM-10 has been re-engineered with thinner spokes and extra-deep side-milling for maximum weight reduction. The SM-10RS is now our lightest wheel in some fitments and meaningfully stiffer than our popular VS-5RS.

VS-5RS

The VS-5RS was built to be extremely light while still offering a meaningful strength increase over our flow formed wheels. For those looking to shed as much weight as possible to improve lap times.

Incoming 18 & 19" fitments added to our ongoing Group Buys

The popularity of our 19" Group Buy has been undeniable, and a number of enthusiasts have reached out requesting additional wheel fitments for their respective vehicles. We love incorporating feedback from the community to expand our offering, so we’re excited to announce that we have added new square fitments for the G80 M3 & G82/3 M4 in 2 diameters. APEX already offers several square & staggered fitments for this chassis, but this new square fitment will allow track-day enthusiasts and canyon carvers with modified cars to run wider tire fitments in aggressive compounds.

BMW G8X M3/M4
VS-5RS
18x10.5" ET18
19x10.5" ET18

While the 18” wheel is specifically made for cars with steel brakes, this 19” set is perfect for CCB-equipped cars where rotatable square wheels and tires are preferred. The added width compared to our 19x10 ET12 square fitment gives a significant boost in tire sidewall support for modified cars focused on an aggressive track fitment. If you’re more interested in the 18” fitment, be sure to head over to our 18” Group Buy today to lock in your discount on our first-ever 18” G8X wheels. As always, for anyone who has questions about fitment for their vehicle, you can review our G8X Fitment Guide for notes on these aggressive square fitments.
