Just saw this thread...really puts things in perspective. I'm out here worrying about when an allocation will come through for my car...and then this thread hit me over the head like a ton of bricks. So happy for you and your daughter and I pray for her continued success with her treatment and that she crushes this insidious disease!

Hey, there. Thanks so much for asking about her. She started Phase 4 mid-May and is doing great! I was holding out to the end of this phase to post another up.

Phase 4 runs through mid-July and we're basically on house arrest, except for the necessities, due to her lowered immune system. I'm continually impressed with her ability to just be "normal" with all she's having to endure.

Phase 5 will start in July and run for 2mths. Once that phase is up she'll be in what is called "Maintenance" and that's really where things get back to normal. Our plan is for her to return to in-person school at the start of 8th grade even though she won't quite be to maintenance yet. It's a goal that we're working toward with her doctor.

On top of all that, she's finished up 7th grade doing homebound school making straight A's and is being given an academic achievement award from her school. Just so incredibly proud.

Thanks again for asking about her. I love her so much.

As someone who work with pediatrics population there is a special place in my heart for the oncology population. It's amazing how resilient kids are and I am glad everything is going according to schedule. I see it daily. Pediatric RN here.

Almost brought tears to my eyes as I read through this. I have an 8 year old daughter and 4 year old son and can't even imagine…

There is a certain bond that us fathers have with our daughters. Definitely puts things into perspective.

Thanks for sharing this. What an absolute tough girl you have there.

May God bless you and your family always…

Well my good Sir, it seems she shines brighter than the Sun in your household, and so she should.

I'd like to extend our warmest regards and kindest wishes to you all.

Should she wish to do something zany, once she's got the all clear, we'd be delighted to host you all here in Australia for a little bit of a well-deserved change of scenery. The offer is genuine and not limited by time, for it's a short bridge, that which connects hearts to hearts.

Keep well y'all (I hope I've spelt it correctly &#128522

First of all, thanks for all that you do to support the kids and their families in your care. I agree with your resiliency comment and I think a large part of that is due to the doctors, nurses, and overall support staff at the clinic.

There are definitely days where I question everything wondering "why her". There are other days where I feel like I need to just "fall apart" to get out the feelings that I'm holding inside. Parents will always worry about their children but this is a different level of worry that I'll have until the end of my days. While I know that she's going to be completely healthy when this is all said and done, I'm not looking forward to always having that tiniest bit of uncertainty lingering in my head forever. I take strength from her ability to focus on the future.

Thank you so very much. She's getting so tired of me telling her how proud I am of her, but she's just going to have to suck it up because I'm not stopping!

That's way too kind! I keep telling her to start planning our "We're done with this ___" trip and Australia is on our list. While we wouldn't want to impose, I would love to be able to meet you and thank you in person for all of the positive thoughts. I wish I could do that with everyone on this thread. It's hard to convey how much the comments have helped me personally and to know that there's still some good in the world. I'll never be able to thank everyone enough.

All those emotions that you're going through is complete normal. I think in my 7 years of working every parent worse nightmare is the unknown. I had an 8 year old tell me she didn't want to die at the start of my career and I did not know what to say beside giving her a hug but deep down inside I knew…Keep being strong and your daughter is doing an amazing job kicking cancers ass! Praying for her!

Thanks for being a role model and your prayers. Only when she has her own kids will she understand the worry we have as parents.
