For the x5 they removed air suspension as an option all together or 40i and M50i so they could continue to serve it 100% on the 45e hybrid and X7s
Also in addition to this, could it be that M3 has higher sale volumes vs M4? So therefore it makes sense to keep component stock secured for the item that sells the most.
It sure "feels" that way based on this forums data as well as dealer discounts.

It feels like that on the forums but in reality the M4 takes the lions shares of sales... there are a few slides posted a month or so back that show projected share of m3/m4 by geo, 6mt, and xdrive

It actually makes sense to guarantee the part for the lower volume M3 at 100% and put the risk on the higher volume, they know the higher volume m4 is going to have some decontented units whether it is 50% or 80% isn't as relevant because the same messaging and contingency preparation needs to take place. By doing this they avoid having to do any contingency planning or messaging around the M3

In NJ many dealers have M4's seating on the lot and moving very slow and no M3 to be found the M3 is much more in demand here in NJ. When I got my M3 my dealer had another two M3 and 4 M4, the M3's sold in 4 days and they still have 2 M4 after 5 weeks. There must be a shortage in production with no new allocations since most dealers have not received any M3's since mid April.

M3 in much higher demand in Chicago as well.
Keep in mind, the M3 has been out of production for several years. The ratio of M3 to M4 might shift towards the M4 over time.

Same here. One dealer sold 2 M3's they got instantly. They have had 2 M4's sitting there for weeks. Another dealer got an M4 HEA in and it sat there over a month.

Is there any update on laserlight? I ordered M4 and wasn't able to add this option due to the restriction.

You can add them as a separate option in an order still. The exec package has removed the laser lights for MY 22
