About to pull the trigger...

... on an in-stock unit, and the dealer is jerking me around just a little bit on the lease. Seems that the residual is 57%, which seems kind of low, and they're jacking up the money factor (0.00133) a bit. which is annoying me.

Now, it could very well be that BMW doesn't want to/doesn't need to subsidize these cars since it is a new model, they're selling well and there is a shortage.

They claim that the residual cannot be changed, and that may be true, but extra MSD aside, they should be able to play around with the money factor, don't you think?

It's putting the payment up at $1150/month (36/10K) with nothing down on a $79K MSRP with a few discounts and incentives in there. I was hoping for something under $1000.

I don't put down payments on a lease.

Haven't seen the program for May yet. Has not been updated but based on April the residual is 57% and the base money factor was .00093. They can jack it up though, which they seem to be doing. Ask for base but they don't have to give it to you.

Yep, just to piggyback, the residual is set by BMW and non-negotiable. Hoping for a bump in the May numbers. I believe they should be released after 5/5.

Just threaten the dealer that you will buy it outright if they don't give you the base money factor. You can get 0.9% on a purchase through BMW or go through penfed for an extra $2500 off.

For some reason telling them you will just buy it cash tends to make them back down, I think they make more money off the lease due to incentives from BMW.

Either way, even with $6k off MSRP and base MF the payments will be just over $1k, unfortunately (depending on exact options).

I believe my dealer here in WI told me residual was .56 is there a way to verify this? I deposited on an awd build , lease is pricey enough without paying an extra 1%.

For 12k miles it is. 10k is 57% and 7.5k is 58%.

I doubt you can lock in any lease numbers on an AWD model yet. The dealership will be happy to hold your money though until orders open.

You might not be able to but I have. We have agreed upon monthly payment amount. If there are more incentives available when I take delivery my payment will be less than what we have negotiated. I suppose it’s possible that the 500 $ loyalty credit won’t be available and awd won’t be a 4100$ option as it’s been speculated but other than that numbers are set. I’m sure they are happy to have my deposit and I’m happy to be first on their list to order one. Getting back to my original question, is residual something that can be confirmed from bmw financial? I’m thinking that number changes over time is there a way to verify it at the time of delivery?

Amazing they’re able to do that when the price guides for MY22 vehicles haven’t been released yet. If there’s a big price increase on the MY22 model do you really think they won’t ask you for more money?

I trust them. This is the third car I’ve leased from them. They will not increase my payment. In the unlikely event that there is a price increase, I’m confident they will discount the car further than the 7% below msrp we’ve already agreed upon. There’s still room for them to make money and they will retain a loyal customer.
