My Plan for Ordering a G80

As I work in the auto industry (for a respectable non-BMW German brand ), I typically live daily with a company car, which is a great benefit. I've had BMW in the past (most recently an M340i in 2019 which I lease transferred), but I'm beginning to save for a G80 to take delivery of in mid-2022.

The plan is to purchase, drive on weekends/lightly, and hold onto as we already know what the future holds with BMW M...as we also already see with AMG. Not that this is a bad thing, but it is what it is.

The plan is just to wait out for the LCI in July 2022 and potentially get an AWD variant. I'm hoping by this time the microchip shortage is over and things have cooled a bit on the demand front.

In terms of spec, here are the options I've been thinking of. I'm hoping to have saved up close to $55k by next summer so that will make for a sizable deposit.

As my first ever BMW was an E46 in Oxford Green, I thought it might be nice to go full circle....

Which option do you like the best?

Exterior Interior Wheels
Option 1 Dravit Grey Fiona Red 826M
Option 2 Oxford Green Tartufo 826M
Option 3 Lime Rock Grey Tartufo 826M
Option 4 Chalk (Ind.) Fiona Red 825M
Option 5 Toronto Red Silverstone826M
Option 6 Frozen Dark Grey Fiona Red 826M
Option 7 Frozen Dark Grey Tartufo 826M
Option 8 Hockenheim Silver Fiona Red 825M
Option 9 Grey Black Fiona Red 826M
Option 10 Isle of Man Green Tartufo 826M

The only opinion that matters is of course yours.

My humble preference would be Option 1: Dravit Grey / Fiona Red.

Enjoy the car!

Option 1 AWD with XPEL Stealth is what I’m planning on getting into by the fall.

If you want factory frozen then option 6 is the way to go.

It's pretty common knowledge now that the MY23 (SOP begins) 7/22 will have most likely the new G20 taillight design and the iDrive 8 dual-screen cluster.

Might be worth just waiting at this point...

Re options, try to see as many of them in person
As an Aston owner I was always going grey, skyscraper probably. But saw Iomg in person and had to order it.
So not biased but...

I always typically like to do something less "common" but IOMG was on my radar from day 1 since it was the official launch color of the G80.

BUT....

having an Ind. color is special too.

Decisions....

I am assuming CF seats are not part of your consideration? As Fiona and Tartufo, no CF seats option.
If this is the case I vote for Option 6
