The problem with broker cars is that most of them are from the Midwest (and a good amount of Florida cars from what I've seen).

Once you pay to ship the cars out to either coast the discounts aren't really worth it.

I've seen some people drive 1,500 miles to avoid that.

This is why people pay MSRP in California. I know it's unconceivable to others who live around the country. But when you're used to the average 1,200sq ft house being $800k and paying $3,000 a month for a studio apartment....

It really is a different mind set out here (for better or worse)
Yep, I checked with one of the brokers and they were going to be going through a dealership out of the Midwest (even though the broker is based out of AZ). The discount was nice but then after you factor in the hassle of having to sell my current vehicle privately and then losing the tax savings on the trade-in, plus shipping of the G80 to me, the discount in the end isn't all that big. Sure, slightly better than MSRP but sometimes I'd rather pay a little more for convenience as well as maintaining a relationship with the local dealership.

Those on the east coast are lucky though as it is a broker haven out there, so many different ones to work with and ones that deal with local dealerships too.

On selling privately - last car I sold was through Shift, and it was absurdly easy. Way better price than what the dealer was offering and a dude showed up at my house to take it. Whole process was maybe 10mins. I think one of those options can work really well, and you can easily shop around to get prices. I also used Tred once, which was ok, not enough extra cash to make it worth it though

I mean 7% off a $80k MSRP is $5,600. Enclosed trailer isn't that much. So I say, great, if the discount covers it AND you get a more desirable spec for yourself, bravo.

MSRP, sure I can MAYBE justify it with your point. But a markup is just laughable at a vehicle with this number assumed to be produced. Had I not left LA, I would have gone through Beverly Hills BMW. They will never markup a car.

Last time I checked Vroom and Carvana they were only about $1,500 more than the dealership was offering and that was nowhere near enough to cover the tax savings I'd get from trading in.

I've found that for the most part when you factor in the tax savings, a private sale will net about the same but without the convenience of just doing it all in one shot at the dealership. Doesn't always workout that way though and really does depend on the type of vehicle being traded in.

How do the brokers get their extra good deals?

Relationships and providing dealers with zero effort sales. Dealers still earn 5% profit on a 7% under invoice sale.

Probably a quantity of deals over quality of deal thing I imagine.

Brokers allow the smaller market dealerships to compete in larger markets and reach the people (from CA and other major markets) who are too smart to pay MSRP or over.

The broker does most of the work for the dealership and it's the buyer who pays the broker. Win win deal

I've been getting my car serviced at Crevier, hoping to build a relationship for my next car, but it looks like I may be done with them. They tried to charge me $90 for a rear license plate bracket that should have come with the car.

I do not think these premiums will last as long as they did on the previous generation. It seems like there were significant discounts to be had early on, now it seems like MSRP is the best deal in SoCal. I would recommend just calling their bluff, my bet is they call you back within a week offering MSRP, if you make 5-7 calls you will find one that will sell to you at MSRP. With this Crevier ADM you can go to Porsche and never look back.

Great Dealership and I live near three and drove to North County and got mine last night below MSRP.

Very pleased so far. As far as service, sigh I will have to pick one of my local dealers.

As far as the RS6 Avant Fletcher got 40k over on 5 cars in a row before dropping. I wanted one but opted for the V60 Polestar and HOV access for now. Will see what happens in the future. I would have preferred they brought the RS4 Avant...or the M3 wagon.

Maybe it's just me, but FL is horrible for discounts. Living here, the taxes are great, but the deals for cars are terrible.
