Cars are selling for $10-20k over sticker all over the place here in SoCal......and they are moving. I got mine at MSRP, which is decent for SoCal two weeks after the car was released.

Even Ontario BMW is charging a $20k mark up! Sales person mentioned that management is only taking advantage of the demand through the roof. Also made the comment that it's mostly repeat buyers paying the mark-up... been there and done that with the F80...Never again! I'll gladly wait 6 months for a 7% discount.

Eh, it's all relative, I pay a premium for convenience quite often, just on a different scale.

Even when it comes to cars, though... I mean, I probably put a good 4-8 hours of time depending on the car in order to find and secure a good deal myself... add in what is often a 4-6 hour round trip drive for me to pickup the car (once much more, and I've contemplated flying out/driving back or shipping as well), and the countless hours on here figuring out what I want and what other people are paying.... I certainly wouldn't pay over MSRP, but it's likely not worth the hunt to go so far under all the time. I enjoy it, though.

If someone moves out of CA because of this, they have a weak constitution and needed to move elsewhere anyway lol.

It's money. Typically lenders won't finance the overage......or at least not all of it.. You have to pay that up front.

Exactly. BMWFS has a maximum percentage over msrp in their advance.

I doubt anyone paying 15-20k over MSRP is financing. Most are probably the very wealthy who want the car now, not 2-3 months from now, and will pay cash.

I dunno… with 0.9% APR on purchases, it’s almost free money.

I initially sort of complained to my CA that I was only getting about 2.2% off after seeing the numbers people were getting with brokers, but now I think maybe I should be happy

concur --- we can easily move 100k or whatever into a fund and get a better ROR than .9%

Hell .9% is dda returns.

You should be. I got three quotes yesterday, $1500 over, MSRP and $1000 under. Natch the $1000 under added on fees and other nonsense but I'm totally disappointed and will wait for the 2022 to place an order and hopefully get a discount.

2.2% is probably $1500 or so? That's pretty good, you should be happy.

Particularly with allocations already so thin. Even people who put down deposits for AWD ages ago could be waiting a long time

I'm in the SF Bay area and I've had success getting the price negotiated down to MSRP and even slightly below, despite having +15k markups on the window tags. I just ended up not buying the car because my M2C is too new too get rid of yet. The cars are mostly just sitting on lots, especially M4s. Wait another month and I'm sure we'll be able to consistently get in-stock 2021 M3/4 at sticker or slightly below.

I didn't like paying MSRP for a March M3 base allocation at the end of February, but I guess that was OK. I had told two different dealers asking 10k - 15k over that they could call me if they had anything reasonable to discuss. One did call back with MSRP + 5k, and when I declined, He said what about 2k. On the last day of February, when he needed to use the allocation, he called again and offered MSRP, but I had already found and ordered a different one.

The markup at Crevier is bs. My dealer in Colorado Springs got my M4 Comp from them and sold it to me for MSRP-$2500 Veteran Incentive, and they paid the shipping. Obviously, my guy paid something around invoice+ for the car. If they sell dealer to dealer that way, the markup (and I have their $15k markup sticker they left in the glove box) is a simple negotiate away.

They're also asking markup on an early production model (https://kilter.com/details?id=290650) that comes without 5AS (Active Driving Assistant which includes Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning, Pedestrian Warning with Braking, City Collision Mitigation with braking and Rear Cross Traffic Alert). I am not sure I would buy that at MSRP.

The problem with broker cars is that most of them are from the Midwest (and a good amount of Florida cars from what I've seen).

Once you pay to ship the cars out to either coast the discounts aren't really worth it.

I've seen some people drive 1,500 miles to avoid that.

This is why people pay MSRP in California. I know it's unconceivable to others who live around the country. But when you're used to the average 1,200sq ft house being $800k and paying $3,000 a month for a studio apartment....

It really is a different mind set out here (for better or worse)
