Purchasing used m3 manual

So I found a very low mileage 23 m3 cpo that is great condition with full body ppf. I’m purchasing it for about 72k which isn’t ideal but with the cpo warranty and the ppf not to concerned the the vehicle has less than 1500 miles. My big question is do the manuals hold their value, i know basic depreciation etc but i have a bronco manual and it literally swan dived value wise and noticed my other manuals also seem to have taken a hit is this the same with the m3?

IMO thinking about resale is the #1 path to not enjoying the car. If you're worried about the car's depreciation, it's going to take the enjoyment out of you owning it, so I just wouldn't bother caring.

That being said, the reliability of the S58 + the G80 being the last of the manual Ms, it'll always have a market. How much of a market, who knows

Yeah I get that, I have always wanted an m3 tbh never had the opportunity to get it til now so I’m excited. Just hate seeing the end of manuals too but it’s imho the most pure form of driving.

This... the GT350 crowd has a lot of these folks.

It's rather sad watching them pussyfoot around for a few years only to try and sell it with less than 1000 miles. Granted, the last time I checked the 2019+ were still going for around what I paid for mine new, but if you're not going to enjoy it, hold onto your money and invest it in something real if that's what you're after.

Meanwhile, I have beaten the hell out of my GT350. Boosted on corn, and it has been an absolute blast.

TL;DR: Enjoy the car, drive the hell out of it, and have fun. If resale is a concern, I'm not so sure buying a vehicle in this price range is the right thing to do.

Yeah been wanting this vehicle for a while, picking it up today or tomorrow price range not necessarily the issue rather squeamish about the car market lately. It’s an amazing car can’t wait to bring it home

Enjoy it! Post pictures!

The car market is volatile, has been for a couple of years now, but maybe we will see some stability in the near future.

Quite a few people asked me about that since I was going to be putting quite a few kms on my new G81 (15000km in first 8 months).

I explained I'd bought it to drive, not to resell.

Same thing with the Focus RS. Guys are keeping them in the garage under covers hoping to make money on them I guess? Seems like such a waste.

I've got 105,000 miles on mine. Track days, canyons, road trips, snow, rain, sun, you name it. It has held up incredibly well. Ford Performance made some fun cars.

If I ever actually get an M3 I plan to do the same with it. Drive drive drive.

Manual feels great. If you can do it then do it.

Truthfully, the 6MT will hold its value far further down the line. If you're looking for it to retain its value within the next few years, I'd say be ready for disappointment. The 6MT might keep its value in 10-15 years when everything becomes electric or hybrid and the number of cars that are meant for drivers dwindles. Your current 6MT cars have depreciated hard simply because there's not much demand for a 6MT on its own. You're seeing E9X, E46, 911 GT3's, etc. retain value because they're equipped with a 6MT and a naturally aspirated engine. 6MT's with forced induction engines aren't slow or bad by any means, but there's less of a demand for them hence the values (unless we're talking about older Japanese cars).

The 6MT can be loads of fun with some mods, and isn't bad at all right out the box. CDV delete, an SSK, clutch stop, some personal mods here 'n there involving making the car sound better, and you'll have a great car you'll enjoy driving every day. Don't worry about depreciation and just drive the damned thing as long as you can afford it.
