What would be interesting is to layer these timelines on to who paid MSRP vs. ADM. My guess is those within the less than 3 months and 3-6 months buckets have a higher % of individuals who paid ADM.

True, people might have paid ADM to take over an existing allocation.

Also i saw that some of them voted every before taking delivery, not sure if they read the post properly before voting. A few of those votes were from people who have a MY21 and they might have ordered vehicles before things got crazy.

Thats why this poll is very subjective. It should be more like Delivery timeline since allocation. That would give us more info into the manufacturering process and logistics at port. You can put an order a year ago and not have an allocation vs somone coming in and paying ADM for an allocation thats already available will skew these numbers

We have monthly threads tracking how long people are waiting for an allocation.

I created this poll as plenty of newbies come in asking for the overall timeline often and this thread was to address the overall timeline irrespective of allocation, manufacturing, shipping or delivery delays.

But does it help them though? I was told if I waited for an allocation, it would be 6-9 months. So technically my car would be delivered in 9-12 months. I went an paid ADM for an open allocation and my car will prob be delivered in 4 months. Same with someone who called around and placed an order with a dealership with an open allocation or 1or 2 on the order bank. Their timelines would be very different than the ones who are like 15-20 on the order bank. So there r a lot of variables to take into account and may not reflect true time and will skew ur results. Either ways, it your thread and you can do whatever u want with it...

Allocation to delivery also have plenty of variables with spec (carbon buckets and individual paint are known for delays), delivery (east / west coast, PCD), etc.

If this thread was not helpful, people would not have spent time contributing in the comments and also voting in the poll. If you think this thread has skewed results and not helpful, you should ignore this discussion and move on.

Just voted. I'm in the Los Angeles area, and mine took 8 months!

This is the timeline for my 2022 M3 Comp, which turned into a 2023 (LCI) since it took so long to get an allocation.

09/27: actual production date
10/21: departed Bermerhaven
11/17: arrived at Port Hueneme, CA
11/21: departed VPC to the dealer
11/26: took delivery (2023 M3 Comp-LCI)

Order in dealer bank: July 19, 2022
Received allocation on: September 29, 2022
Production completion date: November 3, 2022
Delivery date: December 27, 2022
Special aspects (PCD, Individual exterior, etc): None
Major delays: Not really major but the ship from Bremerhaven to Oxnard ended up doing circles for about 3-4 days in the English Channel. This pushed the port arrival date out by like 5 days or so.

G82 xDrive, here’s my timeline. I joined the waitlist on 7/13 so it was about 5 months of waiting for me.

It took a long time for me to switch from 111 to 112, probably because I checked every box for carbon (bucket seats, exterior pack, interior trim). I also waited at port for a month which is normal during these times.

Major delays: Was at "port" in Germany for ~2 months. War in Ukraine pushed me back from March production to May production. Slight delay from VPC in California to dealership (~8 days, "normally" should be 1-2 days)
I'll add another one. Long story short (I've posted around) that my 2022 was in a hit and run, so I am now in a 23!

Model: 2023 M3 Competition xDrive
Country, Region: USA (California)
Order in dealer bank: November 9, 2022
Received allocation on: November 9, 2022 (same day as order submitted)
Delivery date: January 29, 2023
Special aspects (PCD, Individual exterior, etc): N/A
Major delays: Worst delay was actually at the port in California (~10 days).

So this one was less than 3 months from order to receipt!

Thanks! Made it JUST under the 12 month mark It still hasn't sunk in - I remember dreaming about being just days away from delivery and what that would be like back when I was pulling my hair out just trying to get an allocation.

Those were the good old days

Also you might have to find an alternate way to keep yourself equipped after taking delivery!
