I think "allocation day to delivery day" would be a better poll if the intent is to show how long it took BMW to produce and deliver a vehicle. Some people wait on allocations 6-12 months, which has nothing to do with production (but maybe that is the information you seek).

Since there are specific threads about other delays (Allocation, QC and Port), I thought i would create this for the overall process from order bank to delivery which might help future buyers or people who are in line.

I yelled at my CA and messaged the GM of the dealership with my situation... so I've either put myself on their radar for the next allocation or screwed myself out of ever receiving one there

we shall see

Hopefully its the former, especially when they are having several 2023s in transit.

Out of the 4 votes for less than 3 months, i see that two members own a MY21 and the other two have MY23s on order. Delivery time was really short for MY21 when the platform was launched. Not sure how true the later votes are as no one has taken delivery of their MY23s in the US.

Order at dealer. 11/2021

Allocation received. 04/2022

Car delivered at dealer. 08/02/2022

Car is a M3 xdrive. My car was listed as an individual because of the Color but it was Frozen Brilliant Metallic White, which is an option that is BMW USA website. But no delays. Sat at the port in Germany for about 1 week and got on the next boat that left.

70% of the votes states less than 9 months which isnt terrible considering the overall market and long allocation waitlists.

This may be a bit misleading, since there are a lot of people who have ordered but not yet received anything.

11 months and counting for me...

I wouldn't say the poll is misleading but it just gives an overall idea as the whole process is a hit or miss. As of now, getting an allocation is the major issue. Some literally walk into the store and get one whereas others wait for months.

Sure, just depends on what conclusions you are hoping to draw here.

If someone walks into a random BMW dealer in the US today to order an M3, are they going to have a car in 9 months? Probably not.

I see plenty of people (newbies) asking how long would it take from order to delivery. This poll might help them understand it can be anywhere between 3 to 12 months and the dates in the discussion would give them more information as wel.

Also I see that allocation situation has improved a lot from how things were early this year.
