Similar to Mike02z Zunsport delivery arrived today...dang that is fast! Now I'm wondering how much of the total cost was attributed to shipping.

Zunsport oil cooler guard/screen installed during winter wheel change/installation. My mechanic was impressed. He feels BMW needs to address this issue at design stage or offer after sale part/update!

Thanks
I can confirm Zunsport’s mesh grille cover does indeed fit a G82 M4. Just installed it today on my 2024 with direct fit to the stock bolts up forward. It overs the oil cooler like a glove, and there are zero added clearance issues as I’ve seen with Turner’s skid plate which adds about 1.5”(?) under the rubber dam.

The ONLY critique I have is that you have to drill two small self tapped screws in the plastic molding just past the backend of the cooler’s rubber trim border. I, of course, removed the entire plastic trim piece to inspect and ensure I wouldn’nt be drilling into or close to oil cooler piping. I can confirm there is plenty clearance if you use the two provided screws that come in the kit.

Overall 4.8 stars, only because of having to drill into otherwise untapped plastic trim. Otherwise, a smart buy if you don’t want to fork out $450+ for a beefier plate.

As for airflow restrictions, I ran decently hard on a hot day in stop-and-go traffic, as well as a few hard pulls on open road and noted NO difference at all in oil temps.

Definitely would recommend if you are ok with not having the “armor plating” that Turner’s unit provides.

Cut it to 28"x5.5" with metal shears, slide it under the rear clips first, then move the rubber airdam back and forth and it'll loosen the front clips a bit, bend the mesh a bit and slide it under the front clips.

Can it be done without jacking up the front end?

I think its doable, the front end is pretty high on stock springs. Otherwise drive one side up on a curb.

What would concern me is it vibrating and wearing through the tubes or if something hits it that it will get pushed into the tubes and cut one as it is so close.

I’m all for DYI but something about putting $17 mesh on a 100k car seams wrong. At least for me.

Talking about cutting into the radiator itself? I doubt these are sharp enough to do anything like that.

Well BMW decided to put a $0 piece of nothing in front of the rad itself surrounded by a $5 piece of plastic on the bottom of the car, so tit for tat IMO. :P

Wow--smart approach! Maybe if I had waited to see this thread evolve, I might have considered this. .

Is the oil drain bolt on top of that large circular cut out behind the Mishimoto plate?

No it’s further back. I think what u talking about is front center jack point.
I have Mishimoto plate as well it has no effect on oil drain plug.

My thoughts exactly. Constant contact/microvibrations over time and erroding that aluminum ducting if the coating ever gives out on the mess would be my major concern. I’m all for $17, but peace of mind is priceless.

You can zip tie it to the outside clips, also cut it larger than I did, no more microvibrations.

Yes, I would feel more comfortable if the guard was spaced a little from the cooler core.
