How much do you guys make to afford m3?
I bought my first used m3 for $65k OTD - slightly used
Now fully loaded m3 2022 is around $100k Huge price tag curious how much income justifies this ? I can afford the car but having a hard time justifying the $100k OTD price tag Or maybe it's just inflation |

About tree fiddy.
And every time I go to a dealership and think "oh wow they have an allocation", I realise the CA is actually the GODDAMNED LOCH NESS MONSTER TRYING TO TAKE AWAY MY TREE FIDDY.

I found an article online which I read several month back on the Terminal, interesting point of view
https://www.bloombergquint.com/gadfl...sonal-spending I think relative to the rest of the market, the M3/M4 are priced accordingly. Whether you think it's worth $100K to you is another question. To the market it is.

If you are in limbo about the economics of the car.....do not do it then! If something goes wrong....accident, door ding, or poor reliability of the car, insurance costs, you will have major regrets...... If you really want it, then pull the plug and the mentioned issues will not be a problem if they occur.

Income is one thing, you first need to set your priorities straight. Do you have a mortgage to pay, rent, utilities, school loans, credit card debts, child support, etc? Are you setting aside money in to your savings? If you were to lose your job tomorrow, do you have money set aside to comfortably live for at least 6 months?
If you are struggling with any of the above then you should hold off on to buying an expensive car. |

I'm a 34 year old Automotive Technician "mechanic" certainly not wealthy. I would not consider my ability to purchase a $97k car necessarily due to my income but more so having made the correct life choices. I own my home, have no bills outside of the basics and work my butt off after starting with less than $1000 in my pocket after leaving the military in 2010. So in short, I don't think income is the sole factor in being able to afford a large purchase. It's all about planning for it in advance.

i have a very nicely optioned M4 (executive package, upgraded rims, ventilated seats, etc) and MSRP is $78k. To me that makes sense. Once you start getting close to $100k it makes less sense IMO

I did the math, if you make tree fiddy an hour working 8 hours a week and 52 weeks out of the year. You can afford a fully loaded M3. Once you get your raise and start to make fo fiddy, you can start to afford other things, like food for example.

There are calculators online, but it doesn't seem like there's a consensus. From a financial perspective it's always better to live under your means. Having a car you can't afford to put tires on when you need to or buy good insurance sucks.
