M3 Comp X + Baby Seats
Hey everyone. I did some searches and could not find much on this. Maybe I input the wrong search terms, sorry. My wife and I are expecting our first child in November. I'm also "expecting" my first BMW / M product soon-ish ("at port" awaiting departure from Bremerhaven to Baltimore). I'm curious to know if any of you have some good feedback/experience on car/baby seats in the M3. I am assuming they're going to give a relatively similar experience to the standard 3. I'm thinking about going out to the dealer and testing the car seat out in a standard 3 to see how it fits. Thanks.

I test fit in the standard 3. We used a graco keyfit 30 infant seat and now an extend2fit seat. I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'6". She can sit behind me with the convertible seat behind the passenger seat and I can still fit in the passenger seat just fine with a little room to spare too. We're about to have our second in December, so we'll see how it does with both an infant seat and a (probably by then) front facing convertible.

Granted I'm on a booster seat now, you should be fine. I prefer the middle from a safety standpoint which also does not impact seat positions.

These guys have a good video that shows a rear facing Uppa Baby infant seat. 12:00 minute mark it starts. I have a '21 X5 and I'd say any rear facing child seat is going to limit your ability to be fully comfortable…

I had the same worry. Found a M3 to test at a local carmax and was surprised both my wife and I were both able to fit comfortably with a rear facing car seat.
I’m 6’3 and she’s 5’9. Also, I haven’t been in a car aside a 7 or S that really allows you to fully push back the passenger seat. We have a new Lincoln Aviator and we put the car seat in the middle for comfort. Our Mercedes GLA my wife has to sit in the back as there’s not enough space for the rear facing seat. |

In terms of fitting a car seat back there don't worry about it at all. I have a M4CX (I LOVE 2 Doors) and got the Maxi Cosi Mico with its base and still able to fit my little princess back there comfortably. The girlfriend is 5'5" and there's about an inch of space between the baby seat and the back of the passenger seat.
My actual concern was how bumpy the ride is back there for my newborn. Most comfortable setting and she still gets jostled around so you might want to take that into consideration instead of fit |

Subject to reasonable expectations (this isnt a Sequoia), you shouldn't have any issues with space in an M3 with child seats in the rear.

My car seat base (Britax) for a rear facing car seat (Britax) reaches in the middle anchors. It's just a pain in the ass to get the car seat in and out and you'll need to move the front seat forward a little.

My rear facing Nuna Rava fits in my G80 no problem.. You can kinda see it in this pic (it appears tighter than it really is).
We do the seat belt strap through the car seat method (using the anchors seems looser to me) which has worked out well. Congrats on the baby! |

Diono radian 3rxt x2 and a uppa baby infant with base using anchors. Having 3 across works just fine in a manual m3. I'm 5' 10" and wife is 5' 6". Congrats on the new addition. My kids love getting rides!

We have two forward-facing convertible car seats in the back. They fit fine, but it's close to impossible for someone to sit between them. |

FYI the carbon buckets are a bit thinner than the regular M seats so that will allow for a bit more room inside as well (should you choose to option them).

I tried using this line of logic to sell my wife on the carbon buckets. She was not impressed by my reasoning or my sales tactics…
