I feel similar. But I have to see it with some light-colored wheels, maybe this would help a bit (not regarding the grill, of course, but I could live with that if the rest is okay).

Not the best idea to present a new street car next to it’s GT3 Version.

It’s normal that it just sucks in comparison.

Also the wrap is not really working... the test cars at the ring look way better!

BMW G82 M4 for me:

+ Up to date Interieur (finally, thank you BMW)
+ Nicely updated engine
+ AWD Option
+ Good Performance Seat Option

- Ugly Grille (showstopper level..)
- Ugly Integration of Front radar sensor (Are they kidding?!)
- Bulky Headlights (just too much surface)
- Cheap looking Taillights
- No Hofmeister Kink, but bulky rear fenders..
- Strange Body design with a few unaligned contour lines
- Cheap 1 piston rear caliper even on CCB
- Cheap trunk spoiler
- Ugly uninspired side mirrors

• Not sure about the 8speed vs DCT yet..
• Busy stock rims

Dunno, i really start to like this Front.

G80 will be awesome. G82 Rear Quarters are just a tad too bland for me.

Oh and i don't think the Camo helps.

GT3 looks business as always!!

The G80 M4 next to it, not so much, maybe I need to see it without the camo? Still giving it the benefit of the doubt, but in that picture, sorry can't do! :

I can't wait to see these on the road. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this blog, in liking the new big grills.

I wonder if the designers decided to go with the hood indents instead of the bulge to bring down the appearance of the front end. The tall grills add height visually and adding a dome would add to the height appearance of the whole front end. The dents give an impression of bringing the look of the front down and lower.

It's nice to see BMW was able to have some freedom in designing these cars. I imagine some "design traditions" make designers feel boxed in and not able to fully freely express their creativity.

Just saw the video with it next to the M8, it makes it look so dated and boring. Can't wait to see the M3 now, so excited!

Go to BMWM on insta, story, swipe up. The M8 is next to both the new cars and the M4 makes it look, well, like a design that's been out for years and is boring now!

The front grill works for the GT3 when other aspects of the car represent a more aggressive design offsetting the focus on the new grill style. I'm still going to have problems with the new grill on the new M4 but don't know if it will be enough to persuade me not to buy the car once I get a little more used to it (and I'm an M fanboy). To be honest I think the design team missed the mark for consumers not just for this car but for other newly launched vehicles.

I'm sad that the lights lost the "lid" above them that the 4 concept had. Made it look more aggressive

Seriously, the lipstick on the GT is just out of place. Think the Jobba's palace singer in "Return of the Jedi". Enough has been said about the 4er grill so I'll let it be. What's with the design team? Perhaps I'm just out of touch. It's like they're forcing all the enthusiasts to switch brand. I guess I'll take a break from BMW after being a loyalist for 14 years. I envy those on the design team. If you can mess up this bad and still have a job, more power to them.

So, the front looks better than the regular 4, but when I look at the side, 3/4, and rear; I see a mustang. Anyone else?

Is it just me or do the side gills look like the glued on pep boys variety, where they didn't bother to have them flush inset into the sheet metal, like on the M2?

I hope it's just the camo, but sure looks like more tacky cost cutting...

I like it. But I'm glad I'm getting the G80, those wider hips are more obvious on the M3. The M4 rear quarter looks bland as hell.

So is this the final production rear apron or is there something missing?

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, there is nothing a hammer cannot fix. That's what I'll be doing to add a power dome.

On a separate note, to me cancelling ED is far more annoying than any of the radical changes found in this new G8x. I wish BMW would reconsider.

I agree, on a scale of 1 through 10 this is a go! BMW been doing that since the e9X m days.
