Is there any difference between the bootmod 3 flex fuel kit and the fuel it one
The bootmod one is 600 and the fuel it is about 450 is there any difference or worth to go an extra 150 to get the bootmod one ? |

Bootmod is all integrated as in the ecu gets the values directly. No need to open app read do math. The fuel it route is standalone , as in the ecu isnt provided with the info and to match what the bootmod does would require adding the CANbus CANflex ECA

Ah yes I see. Must have reduced their pricing.
The other is if you wanted to go with a fuel hat install, bootmod is the route. Otheewise, yea I am not sure if there is any other differences. Maybe someone who uses fuel-it can add context. |

Comes with what? Connection to OBII? No it doesn’t. It comes with a wire to connect to the JB4 so you don’t have to bother with the Fuel-it app. Do you have a flashed ecu or are you using a JB4?

Fuel-IT offers different options. They have CANbus for flash cars, bluetooth for using the phone app, and 5v output for other applications like JB4. So you need CANbus one for BootMode.

In terms of the safest option, do people have a preference on location between fuel hat versus in the engine bay? The fuel hat is appealing since it's incognito but wanted to ask.

I can't see their wiring harness but for these the fuel hat is hidden but a headache for the wiring as you have to run it up by the glove box and remove a bunch of interior trim pieces that then never seem to click back in properly ever again.

If you're using bootmod3, the PTF flex fuel kit enables the multimap feature. This allows bootmod3 to automatically adjust your boost and timing based on the ethanol content.
never had an issue with either one

With a CANbus adapter from Fuel-IT, BM3, MHD, Zex, etc, you can do that for all flash maps. You don't need the MHD or BM3 specific CANbus kit to enable the flash tuning CANbus features like multimap.

I'm not much of a mechanic, but I installed the bm3 fuelhat kit it 30 minutes. The trickiest part is the wiring due to lack of good pictures out there.... I think someone did a write up recently that had a good bunch of pics though.....

Something else to consider in terms of fuel hat vs pre-rail closer to the engine. If you’re analyzing at the hat, there is still potential for less E content in the fuel lines after that all the way to the engine. Now, is that enough volume to cause an issue with too much timing when your content isn’t exactly that at the injectors/rail or does that fuel get used up quickly enough? I don’t have a definitive answer, but generally, if that’s a concern, just drive it for at least 5 min at the stable E measurement before you beat on it and it should be fine, but it’s definitely something to be mindful of.
