Once you get past stock turbos to hybrids / single don’t you also need to consider a connecting rod upgrade and built trans on top of the other items above?

It’s a really significant jump in cost (orders of magnitude) going from low 10’s down to low to mid 9s.

(Not saying it isn’t worth it of course, just a massive increase in cost/complexity)

The tuner claims he has customers pushing 900+ on stock engine and trans. Yes it's a big jump in power, and expensive probably easy $15K-$17K...

You can run mid to high 9s on stock turbos with or without port injection.

Going built is very expensive.

Not sure how much I believe this. Red Bull team beat on their 1000+hp stock engine nothing opened... for a couple years. You can run under 10 without touching the engine.

Rods wont be an issues as long as your tuner limits the tq to under 750wtq and let the revs make the power. Its common for tuners to limit the boost in the lower rpms range and then ramp the boost up over 4k rpms.

On another note stock engine trans and turbos can get you as low as 9.5 in 1/4 mile and mid to low 5s 60-130. After that as ChrisM4 said there's a huge cost barrier of entry.

Stage 1 pure trans and tq converter is about 9k plus labor

Your could go PI on the stock manifold. I've personally seen people push 38psi on the stock manifold but i've also seen people nuked them at 35psi so it depends on how much you feel like gambling. If you dont like gambling then its another 6-9k on a PI/IM setup

Turbos
Hyrbids 4-6k
Single 7-13k

You're looking at 19k- 31k in parts only not including labor. There's a reason why most of us stay in the FBO DI only land. You got to pay to play and the m tax is real lol

I wouldn’t call it M tax. Its the price for having a really fast, reliable 4000 lb machine. These are not 90’s mustangs. Lol. I think our GTR trans was 20+ for that part of the build. Just remember, you grenade the motor or the trans. You could be way worse out of pocket to fix anything that got caught up in the line of fire. If some of you guys haven’t had cars with this type of power/ you will always want more. Lol. So when you do build it, over build it. This way when you are hitting rolling boost at 1200 ft of TRQ and drop the hammer, you don’t have to be sweating bullets waiting for that gut wrenching pop
