I'm hearing that residuals and MF may have moved this month. Does anyone have any info on this?

I dont remember where I read this. But is it true that if you lease a BMW say for 36 months. And at say 18 months you want out. That you CAN NOT trade the car into anyone other than BMW?
What if I lease a M3 and 18 months later I want a Porsche 911 again. I cant take the M3 to Porsche for a trade in now? If thats true. That sucks!

As of 10/1/21, BMW is no longer accepting 3rd party buy outs. What this means is that (as it sits right now), if you want out of your lease in 18 months, you can pay the car off and then sell it to Porsche. Previously, you could have had Porsche buy the car out with a dealer payoff. I'm not sure how things work in other states, but dealers don't pay tax in FL so a dealer payoff is considerably less than the lessee's payoff. Alternatively, you can swap out of your lease (i.e., putting it on swap-a-lease). BMWFS makes it very easy to swap in and out of their cars. Unless things change, you could always swap out of it and then go to Porsche with no baggage. |

Sorry. Thank you for explaining that. Sounds like I will not be leasing. I have a tendency of walking away from cars after a year. I would prefer NOT having to float the money just to get into a new car. So BMW lease is no longer an option for me.

It can matter. Years ago I wanted out of my BMW lease and my local BMW dealership lowballed me on the buy back. Porsche took that M3 and they paid me around 4K more than the bmw dealer offered me. This was back in my F80 days though.

I'm considering doing a lease transfer on my M3C. Looking for feedback from those of you actively price shopping. What is a reasonable expectation for due at signing to achieve a mid-$700 pre-tax payment?
Leaving aside the cons of a big downpayment on a lease, I could easily see 5-10k out of pocket to achieve that monthly assuming you could even get an allocation. |
