Well, my CA called today to let me know that he is converting my order to the 2023 order bank. No allocation yet… just wanted me to double check everything carried over.

So I guess some news is better then no news.

order banks for 22 must manually be converted to MY23 by the dealer (in other words, redo the order as a MY23)
This is my experience: My dealer told me in mid May BMW cancelled my MY22 order (which had an allocation and production date, June 26/22). About three weeks later I went into the dealer and placed a new order for a MY23. As I understand it, it's now in the order bank, and my dealer is waiting to hear why allocations they will get. As soon as they get a G80 allocation, it will be assigned to my order. So… no allocation carry over.

I find this hard to believe and hope it's incorrect. Some of the items are now broken up into separate options so it would be kind of ridiculous they either force you or prohibit you from changing the order.

Individual colors weren't available when I got my allocation number, and being able to get an individual color was a strong factor in me waiting it out for the 23 when my 22 got cut from production. I could understand them not giving you a credit for items you didn't originally select on the 22 that increased in 23 models ie carbon buckets. From a profit perspective I find it hard to believe they wouldn't want to take the opportunity for customers to upgrade to an individual color. I'll have to see what my dealer says.

BMW didn't cancel any orders with a production number. They've gone to 105 (no build week available) and will be converted to MY23. Anything in the order bank (status 047) will be canceled June 30, so every dealer will have to convert that order to a MY23 order bank order.

Hey @calbears have you heard anything on the MY price match and also if they are prohibiting changes from the original 22MY config?

I agree. I figured they’d want the extra money to be made. My sales guy was the one who approached me to change back to individual. However it was shut down when brought to the sales manager. My only assumption is the credit may be coming from BMW and not the dealer per-say. The only items I was changing was updating to an individual color and changing the interior color.

Either or, I’m happy my price is protected.

Did your dealer confirm this in writing.

BMW doesnt have any reason to honor MY22 pricing in this scenario when the buyer or your dealer missed individual order deadline.

Congratulations, but its still kind of depressing. My MY22 with a production number since Jan is still in 105, but you have a new order, new allocation, and production number already in 111...

Sorry, I should've expanded on my explanation. My dealer called and told me the order was canceled, and when the MY23 order guide was available I would need to come in and place a new order.

What I learned later was they actually built my car, notwithstanding BMW told my dealer the order was canceled. By then I had already committed to the MY23 which at this point I prefer anyways, I don't want to take delivery on what is essentially a year old car.

So you're right they didn't cancel the order, though my dealer thought they had.

I've heard some things about protected pricing for MY22 orders with a production number (status 105 now). Nothing concrete yet.

My experience as well. I really I hope I get an early production week because if it goes too far into the fall, I'll have to cancel my PCD.

You can at least take solace in the fact that status 111 means zilch at this point.

He's still just as likely to end up 105 again as you are to be 150 before him.

It's all a crapshoot ATM.

Is this true? I am first in line at a dealer with a MY22 in the order bank. Do I need to redo my order or lose my place in line? Orders, regardless of model year, in the order bank wont be deleted will they?

Or are you saying, whenever the allocation is received, I will need to update my order due to MY23 changes?

Based on your profile, you're in Canada, so has anyone confirmed if the US is following the same process?

My process was very similar. Originally week 5 -> 16 or 17. Then in beginning of April went to 105 status. My CA said at that time BMW had moved me to MY23. I gave my CA a new order for the MY23 build, that is now in 047 status, and I am awaiting their first MY23 allocation. He said a new production number would be assigned. He also said that all of this information was coming from their market manager and that BMW was aware of the situation with the MY rollovers. Can't be 100% sure this is the standard process but it is all I have to go on.

I knew this was going to happen. As someone else said, the 111 doesn't mean much now, but I was hoping BMW would hand out allocations to the dealers that have people with a MY rollover first. I know it is wishful thinking.

MY22 order bank orders will be deleted June 30, 2022. So dealers will need to convert those to MY23 order bank orders before then.
