Ok they havent decided if you will be assigned a new production number or if they will upgrade your 22 build to a 23. They are gonna do “payment assistance” for price difference to a 23. They were not very clear on that and what it entails.

Thanks, curious as well what they will do. Is there a timeline on when more information will become available?

Are you a CA? Considering I was given a production number and they might have to find me a new one, that would be a punch in the gut.

Absolutely, had one since February. Crickets at the dealer so far but honestly, it doesnt look good. Used car prices hoing down (trade in), interest goes up, base price goes up and we have a new tax coming in September. Just the updated price and new tax hit will be +8% for nothing...

Was told I’m moving to a 23 Model a few weeks back (M3 Base) and today I was informed by my CA that BMW will be providing price protection as long as I do not make any changes to my order. I attempted to move to an individual paint that I missed the deadline on

Just for the build or for anything else on your deal, e.g. trade in or interest rates?

Wouldn't this be dealer dependent?

It was for the build itself. I imagine because my requested change was for an individual paint it would require approval from BMW when the 23s can be submitted for approval.

I’m pretty sure folks will start chiming in for those who are crossing over that their submitted/approved build will be price protected.

My trades and interest rate are totally separate.

You wont lose the allocation you have, just the production number may change. Not a CA but my info is good

That's a relief, thanks! Hopefully I hear about the swap soon.

Regarding BMW honoring pricing for 22, is that dealer dependent or will BMW override it?

Stopped by my dealership a couple of weeks ago to place an order for the M4 Competition. He said I was number 5 on the M4 list (M3 list is 35+).

He told me today that he got allocations and I made the cut. He expects me to place my order in the next couple of weeks. My dealership is in Northern NJ. They do decent volume.

Looks like the model inflexibility was temporary. I can now change within the M4 range between base/comp/xdrive

Bmw said assistance with model year increase. Any markups from dealer is a different discussion.

Curious why he'd have you place your order in the coming weeks if he has an allocation for you?

He got allocations today and will place it in a couple of weeks? Ain't nobody got time for that. He's got to place it ASAP otherwise you don't have an allocation.

Configuring the allocation with your build might take 10 mns max. If i were you, i would request your CA to do it tomorrow and give you the VIR with your build & production number.

I honestly don't know. He made it sound like much sooner than 3 weeks. He said to definitely have the order ready. Anyway, I'm in no rush if it's only a 2 week difference.

No production number means no allocation.

I would be skeptical about the dealership who takes two weeks to do a 10 minute job especially in the current market.

Just curious what happens to MY'22 047s - does the dealer need to reconfigure as MY'23s and put into new queue/bank or does this happen automatically?

order banks for 22 must manually be converted to MY23 by the dealer (in other words, redo the order as a MY23)
