Removing just one resonator was too quiet, but I think removing both resonators and a secondary cat would be too loud.

I encourage you to have them do your resonators and hear what it sounds like, and then do the cat if it's still too quiet.
This!!!

I've been chatting with dialogical about this, as it's what he did and he posted the video earlier in this threat, and it sounded damn good to me. I stopped at one of my local exhaust shops to chat about it, and they said straight was absolutely the way to go in replacing both resonators as a starting point…in my case, he offered to do it right there and then today for just under $300, and I couldn't pass it up. The sound now with valves open is a perfect starting point for me….I get all the burbles etc, along with a nice deep tone, but if I want quiet, I close the valves and it's just a tad louder than stock. I'm a dummy and forgot to take before pics, but here is after, and a shot of the resonators removed.

I will get a video when I have a chance with valves open/closed, but for now and for reference, it sounds identical to the video in this thread of an M3 with resonators replaced, but with X pipe.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I say this is a great starting point, because there is no drone whatsoever, the closed-valve still serves it's purpose, but with valves open in sport/sport+ engine, the sound is absolutely wondering, louder, but not annoying to you or others. I'm going to stay like this for awhile and see if I want to add a slip on like Remus, Akraprovic, and/or something else like a down-pipe.

Gotta help our brothers/sisters out! If a $300 solution gets them what vendors are selling for well over $1k, they need to know.

100%!!!!!

Mine was only 250 bucks!!!!!!!

What diameter piping is yours? Mine was just a bit wider than OEM so it sleeved over on my AR G80. I feel like it sounds louder than my G80 PB where the piping was smaller.

For those who want get their own material and have a shop custom build. I am deleting two res, and adding X.

Just ordered these items:

https://khaosmotorsports.com/product...tainless-steel

(Looks exactly like PSI X, and now Active's X)

Squirrelly 3" Inch Stainless Steel Mandrel Bend Angles Turbo Fabrication Shops and Racers Alike Straight Pipe Tubing 16 Gauge 3FT Exhaust System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016R8MZS8...NDP689A6TSDYRX

I am ordering 3 of these.

With cut, install, and parts, it will be under $450

Really sounds like there is a difference between this and my straight pipes but it's hard tell exactly what it is. Either way sounds amazing, don't get me wrong!

EDIT: If it's possible to get a cold start/warm start with valves open and closed etc….few revs….that would be amazing

I’ve been running dual res, x pipe in place of second res, and 2nd cat delete for months. Wouldn’t have it any other way— I owe vids. I bantered months ago, but did anyone ever post? If not I owe as it sounds great! I paid $350 at a reputable DFW muffler @ custom fab’d shop. This mid pipe prices are highway robbery

Any of you know the diameter of the pipe? Is it 2.75ID or OD? Also is it 2.75 on both end of the cut? I have 3" OD pipe on order but need reducer to go from 3 to 2.75. going overboard with parts lol, but since I am building my own, well a shop will be doing it for me and getting best possible materials. I could have gotten it done for $325 but already spent $310 on parts.

This is the g80 6MT with the primary resonator and secondary cat removed. The first video is a drive by in second gear in sport plus mdm.

In the second video I did a warm start, comfort mode revs, sport mode revs and sport plus mdm revs. It should be noted that engaging a gear does actually make it sound much better than neutral but it's too hard to capture the sound in gear. Also you should know that with the windows up it's much quieter than when outside of the car. You hear the burble and cracks nicely from inside. There is zero droning on the highway or ever.

The guy that did the mod for me told me that if you remove the secondary resonator you will get drone. He said resonators control the depth of the sound and the cat is the volume. I couldn't be happier. Extremely excited. Oh and it added about 10hp to the car. Noticeably more exciting of a drive.

Sounds great bro! I don't understand primary resonator, though; my understanding is the primary cats are on the downpipes, then through sequential resonators, then secondary cats, before hitting the stock muffler.

In my case, I removed both resonators and replaced with straight pipe; that's it. So just confused on what's different between our two solutions.

Any input is appreciate and again, yours sounds killer!
