2021 G80 6-speed owner here.
This is my first BMW, so I see myself holding onto this car for at least 5-7 years. Considering the ridiculous interest rates and the general economy right now, I am not in a rush to make another car purchase. Bahamut was initially being used as my daily driver to work, but changes in my life now have me in a position to work full-time from home. Took delivery on April 2nd, 2021 and I have 11.5k miles on the car as of this post. With that said, I now only really use the car for weekend trips with my family or spirited solo or group driving sessions. I currently live in California, and the police are cracking down more on modded cars (at least in my area), so mod list will be upgraded suspension, tires, and brakes. Any power upgrades I consider will require more research feedback (ideally from other Californians). Long story short, I absolutely love the car. Great blend of performance, and usability! |

Mine is a daily driver. I still have my 20+ year old 330i, and though I don’t know what the future holds I’ll keep with it.

I did just 1,000 mls in almost one year. The car sits a lot in the garage.
My plan is to keep the G80 as it fits perfectly with my other MT cars in the stable.

Have been dailying my G80 for 2 years now, and it’s been a great experience. Most of my enjoyment has been tinkering/modifying the car, and I’m at a point where there’s not much more I want to do with it. I’ll likely daily it for another 2-3 years, make some more great memories, and just take it from there.
Thankfully, military retirement in the possible near future is keeping me from going buck wild and trading the car in on something newer or maybe a 911. Also knowing that I don’t think there’s a car out there that can beat the G8x in the comfortable/fun/sporty/daily category. |

2022 G80 6MT Connecticut
Kept my F80 6MT 3 years and was blown away by the new G80 M3 luxury, performance and styling. So I ordered one. I have a daily driver and still put 14K miles in one year on my M3. My plans; I do road trips on a regular and have several planned for this spring/summer Niagara Falls, Va Beach, North Carolina, Maine, Philly etc Yellow DRL’s are my only mods planned that I have been delaying. I just keep impeccable maintenance, fresh set of tires and do more often than necessary oil changes. Every 6 thousand miles. Sometimes I’ll change the oil after a long weekend road trip like a 12 hour drive. An absolute waste of money but I do it anyway . Highway Assassin |

Well, whoever purchases your car next will appreciate you. And yes, unless you're going to keep that car forever, you're wasting good money (that you could use for mods, I might add). |

1. Keep for a few years. 2-3
2. All show 3. Add the go 7-800whp 4. Drive it - track and strip. I guess I want a little of everything out of the platform.

Good thread, OP! It's bringing up different ownership plans and intentions, based on diverse owners' needs and desires.
My own plan, like a couple others', is to keep my G82 till Spring 2028 and replace it with another, late-production G82. I'll purchase a service contract this summer to bridge between the new-vehicle warranty and the replacement timeframe. I daily mine, ~13,000 miles/year, and can't imagine another vehicle which fits my needs and desires any better (even a 911, TBH). I have the benefit of many years' driving and many BMWs driven. I believe we're enjoying our "E39 M5" moment with our G8x. Next-generation M cars will be hybrid or purely electric. They'll be faster and more efficient but will lose in exchange other attributes we hold dear. The best antidote I can imagine is a "last call" M4 as we collectively know and love. That gives me 5 years to decide on drivetrain and color combination. |
